Beitar Jerusalem is the most popular and influential soccer team in Israel. It also happens to be the only one that has never contracted a Muslim player. Forever Pure follows the team over the tumultuous 2012-2013 season. The team’s owner is Arcadi Gaydamak, a wealthy Israeli-Russian with political ambitions and an extremely dubious reputation. Following a successful first few games, Gaydamak causes shockwaves when a secret transfer deal brings two Muslim players from Chechnya onto the team. Both young men have to face racist chants and choruses of whistles from the crowd; the slogans on the banners read “Death to the Arabs” and “Forever Pure.” Initially, the opposition comes from just a small group of radical fans, but one thing leads to another and it spirals into popular revolt and a total boycott. These events have huge consequences for the team – their performance takes a nosedive, there’s disunity among the players and a grim atmosphere in the stadium. This film is testimony to the devastating effects of racism.

In 1948, a group of World War II pilots volunteered to fight for Israel in the War of Independence. As members of 'Machal' -- volunteers from abroad -- this ragtag band of brothers not only turned the tide of the war, preventing the possible annihilation of Israel at the very moment of its birth; they also laid the groundwork for the Israeli Air Force. ABOVE AND BEYOND is their story. The first major feature-length documentary about the foreign airmen in the War of Independence, ABOVE AND BEYOND brings together new interviews with pilots from the '48 War, as well as leading scholars and statesmen, including Shimon Peres, to present an extraordinary, little-known tale with reverberations up to the present day.

An Israeli woman living in Amsterdam investigates why fans of the Ajax soccer team have appropriated the nickname "Superjews" – complete with Star of David hats, Israeli flags and songs like "Hava Nagila." We meet hooligans, an Ajax archivist, former Ajax president Uri Coronel and a Holocaust survivor. Who is the "real" Jew: the non-religious Israeli woman with an aversion to her own country's flag, or the "Jews" who flock to the stadium and dedicate their lives to the team? Superjews is about identity, the use of symbols, and what it means to be or feel Jewish. Filmmaker Nirit Peled takes on the role of narrator and guide in the land of Ajax, against the backdrop of her present-day life in Amsterdam and her past in Israel, a country she is very critical of. Though she is initially turned off by the "Superjew" phenomenon, her viewpoint becomes more nuanced as she learns more about it, and she manages to gain perspective on how she personally relates to the cult of Jews. Consisting of intimate interviews in which Peled appears onscreen, the film also boasts recordings in and around the Ajax Arena, archive footage of Ajax supporters from before the Second World War, coverage of a group of fans' trip to Israel, newspaper clippings and YouTube videos of hooliganism.
