I think I'm going to be too busy over the next couple of days to post anything much here, so I'll sign off with the photo I've used for this year's Christmas card.
I'm not naive enough to think everyone will have a great holiday period, but I hope that the next few days prove better for you all than you anticipate.

Forget Me Not

This little forget me not seemed so delicate while I was shooting it I was afraid that the bloom would get knocked off of the stem. I didn't want an ordinary flower shot with a full bloom dead center in the middle of the frame.
I worked my camera around the flower and shot from many different angles. This angle here is what I liked best.

Forget Me Not

The bloom rises like a whisper—a tiny, delicate forget‑me‑not suspended in a haze of warm, dreamy color. Its petals feel almost weightless, as if a single breath could send them drifting away.

The flower leans softly into the frame, not centered, but discovered, as though the viewer has stumbled upon it in a quiet moment. The angle you chose wraps the blossom in a gentle, intimate perspective, giving it a sense of vulnerability and grace .

Around it, a wash of green melts into warm orange, the two colors blending into an abstract, painterly backdrop that feels almost like a memory rather than a literal space. The contrast between the cool softness of the petals and the glowing warmth behind them creates a subtle emotional tension—calm meeting warmth, fragility meeting radiance .

The shallow depth of field turns the world around the bloom into a velvety blur, making the tiny flower feel like the quiet center of a much larger, unseen landscape. The softness you aimed to capture is unmistakable—the entire image feels like it’s wrapped in a sigh

I don't like to take photos of lichens when they are dry or in full sunlight. But in drizzling rain and light fog, as of today, they show their most beautiful colors:
