A single small red boat sits empty on the still waters of a bay at full tide. Its outboard motor is tipped up. There is a single paddle almost hidden behind the motor.
Beyond the boat are a few rocks jutting up from the water, with some more so, and a single one tall enough that there are a couple of scrubby pines growing on top of it. To the near right of the frame is a wooded shore reflected in the water, and in the far distance a low shore is just visible through a light mist. The sky is cloudy grey and the water has the same dull tone, broken only by the bright red of the boat. It is a peaceful scene.

For everyone struggling in whatever way. I hear you. I feel it too.

I have been almost entirely confined to my home for the past 4 months, only able to leave for periods of about 1 hour at most, but even this short walk to the bottom of the field this week was full of beauty.

Remember that somewhere there is light. Keep looking for it and you'll see it.

A photograph taken at the edge of a wood, where the background is mostly in shadow. The late afternoon sun has lit a single branch of oak leaves that cross the frame from left to right. Some of them have started to change to autumn colour of a warm brown gold.

Immature pied-billed grebe

Years ago I got this photo of an immature pied billed grebe in Miner's Marsh in Kentville, not far from us, and after seeing the lovely photos of grebes that Jim just posted today, I was inspired to dig this one out. Thanks for the encouragement, Jim.
