The most revelatory site I visited here was the National World War I Museum and Memorial, established largely through the efforts of the people of KC. I knew the war’s bare outlines — the assassination, the entanglement of alliances, trench warfare — but I’d never had the context filled in so vividly. A stunning, deeply moving place. I’ll be on this topic for a while and sharing lots more pics in the comments.

My first-ever visit! What a cool city, with plenty of fountains and green spaces, and lots of rich, fascinating history that I didn’t know or expect. I’ll be sharing some pics, starting with this one, in front of the beautiful facade of Union Station.
