Silence of Morning - The lake is so different in the early morning hours. The light comes from behind and gives beautiful texture to the sandy shore. The beach is empty except for the sound of birds. It is the most peaceful time of day besides sunset.

On the way back from the wildlife refuge, we stopped at a small bridge crossing the Wallkill River. It flows north unlike most rivers. I love the hazy, rainy mood it had that day.

Yay! I just learned my photo was selected for the juried exhibition “In Honor of Trees,” by photographer Wendi Schneider. This is my 3rd acceptance this year, out of 4 competitions I’ve entered. It’s quite an honor to be so consistently recognized.

Photograph of a surreal landscape. A largely bald mountain sits above a very flat, yellow plain, which is laterally bisected by a crack, created from water erosion. The mountain is covered with green grass from base to peak. Seemingly swarming across its right ridge and front face, is a very dense and compact mass of round-canopy’d trees, with just a few tree-spots further away, like freckles. The mountain looks really strange; it is traversed by pale horizontal paths, and the tree growth seems tightly controlled, even manicured. The plain is yellow from vast swaths of flowering lentils, which the valley is famous for.

Wildfire Sunset Route 6 - last evening driving on Route 6 and you could see the effect of the Canada wildfires in the sunset sky. The sun was a giant ball of fire. Disastrous and yet so beautiful... Hope there's relief soon.

Not far from our house and something eerie about this stretch of marsh. Located on an empty stretch of the road, you can almost hear spirits calling to you and especially on a rather gray November day. I once wrote a short story after visiting this area for the first time, about a mysterious little girl I thought I saw waving to me from the window of an abandoned house.
