My new YT video is up! In this one, I discuss why I hate Spotify and two FOSS alternatives one should use instead: OuterTune and Metrolist.
And frankly, I really, really like them both. I wish it hadn't taken me doing a video on this topic to find them.
Please hit the like button or leave a comment if you enjoy the video. Thank you!

squeezing in one last decembird with this loquacious lad, gary nubird. the starling is rarer & rarer in scotland; so, sadly, i've never had the distinct honour of hearing one bust out a classic electro riff. i'll bet they do it all the time, though, with their little customised roland tr-808s.

Join #ThePlaylist once again, where this week the Mainframe has chosen the theme of:
Electric Dreams
And we're too scared of the Mainframe to go against its wishes. So two hours of whatever the phrase "electric dreams" conjured up in the silicon minds of the LLMs that sent in their suggestions for thematically appropriate songs that humans 'enjoy'.

Psst: Did u know we European home computer users had a game that was called "Thing on a SPRING"? And what I'm about 2 announce is just such a lil spring thing… well… or not… um…. a spring thing nevertheless (it's March at least!)… it's a new issue of
RADIO IRRTUM! !!
↓↓↓ Deutsch Version below unten ↓↓↓
Da next issue of #RadioIrrtum! will arrive this Saturday, 2026/03/14, 8:00pm UTC+1/Berlin time/CET. At Alex Berlin at DAB+ K12D in Berlin + Brandenburg and worldwide @ https://www.alex-berlin.de/radio-livestream .
A German language #radioShow exploring the sonic vastness of the #underground. Emitted transmissions may raise attention for new unheard #music. Don't worry about the #GermanLanguage aspect - this is about #music!
So what's in it?
- #AlternativePop
- #BeatlessRap
- #bassMusic
- Chilli #electro
- #cellphoneMusic
- #ChansonKaput
- depressive #Stimmungsschlager covers
- #Dachapunk
- #4track cassette stuff
- dark #harpMusic
- #classicalMusic
There will be some focus on limited recording envs (like playing live only with guitar + looper, using just a phone, or a 8- or even 4 track recording device) – have to admit, this wasn't planned: It happened by accident.
Also: >50% of the titles played can't be found on #Spotify, hehe.
But we've got LOTS of #fediverseMusicians here like…
- @penfriendrocks
- @stanleygrill
- @sonicwalker
- @n3wjack
- @geigerzaehler
You're all making the Fediverse a special and cozy place, u know that? Thank u so much!!
And there is lots of #CreativeCommons content as well. Because Radio Irrtum! will never be friends with the music industry. As there is no "industry" in real music.
I'll post playlist + manuscript later here. And if u have questions? I'll gladly answer. Just ask. CU all on Saturday! :)
This radio show is dedicated to Frau Anna Schmidt. She won't be able to listen anymore; at least not from this planet. R.I.P., Anna.
