Veronicastre - Culvert's root (Veronicastrum virginicum)

#silentsunday #bloomscrolling #flowers #gardening #photography

Close up photograph of two culvert's root spikes of purple flowers, one in the light in the front and the other blurred behind. The flowers are starting to open from the base of the curved spikes and the tips are still green and flat like spatulas. Green foliage is blurred behind with blue dots of light.

Concrete I

#FensterFreitag #WindowFriday
#photography

Photograph of two arched windows through concrete walls, taken from the interior of a tower near the top. The top parts of two other windows can be seen below the main ones. The concrete walls are circular and have a rough texture, since everything was left bare in the tower.

Coit Tower, San Francisco. 2009.

Macro photograph in black and white of a coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara) flower bud, all its petals still tightly closed together, reproducing a flower shape. White cottony hair protecting the inside of the tepals can be seen stretching out like spider web around the bud with the opening process. The rest of vegetation is blurred in the background.

Smurfs Log: Holding hands

* I usually post my weekly photo later in the week. However, I'm not sure if my mom will still be with us. She has a strong heart and isn't ready to let go yet…

A black and white photograph captures a poignant moment of connection between two people, centered on their hands.

A smaller, more delicate hand with long fingernails and visible wrinkles rests inside the larger, more weathered palm of another hand.

It highlights the beauty of aging and the enduring nature of human connection through simple, physical contact.

Move to the suburbs, she said. The kids will have better schools, a yard to play in, and the neighbors won't be weird.

Yesterday, in Half Moon Bay, 30 minutes south of San Francisco.

#photography

A photo of an ordinary, one story, stucco-coated, taupe-colored house with a brown shingled roof, white vinyl windows, and a white picket fence. Consistent with a late 1950s vibe, you can see Venetian blinds and drapes inside, in the windows. Outside, the house is decorated with Christmas lights: icicles from the roof eaves, mini LEDs how long the picket fence.

It's suburbia in a nutshell, if you were ignore the 15 foot tall skeleton in the front yard, dressed like an elf in green and yellow felt, standing over what appears to be the murdered bodies of Santa and some of his helpers.

A photograph of a Hummingbird Moth, a variety of sphinx moth that looks a bit like a miniature lobster and feeds much like a hummingbird, feeding on nectar from Butterfly Bush flowers.

Photograph of a small river with a shore of pebble rock on the right, and a tall willow tree leaning over in the middle. Smaller trees and other green bushes are growing on each side. The sky would have been bright blue if not for the smoke coming from wildfires elsewhere in the country.

#FensterFreitag #WindowFriday #montreal #monochrome #blackandwhite #architecture #photography

A black and white photograph taken at an angle, looking upwards, of an arched window adorned with Corinthian columns in a rectangular stone wall. The building is a kind of square tower with windows on three sides. Another similar window is therefore visible through it, as well as the ceiling decoration inside. Another, smaller window is partially visible above.

Stay inside with me

#FensterFreitag #WindowFriday #montreal #monochrome #blackandwhite #photography

A black and white photograph of three side-by-side windows, framed in black, in a brick wall, with falling snow. The photo was taken from the inside of the window in the building opposite, with the shade lowered almost to the bottom, creating a soft, diffused light within a simple white frame. Three other similar windows in the opposite wall on the exterior are visible through the shade, above the first three.

An abandoned pottery factory, somewhere in #France

The small French #pottery works thrived for decades. It remained modest, while competitors expanded and modernised. While this gives the #ruins a quaint charm, it was certainly a major factor in their closure!

Inside, the upper floors have long rows of wooden racks stacked with 100s of moulds. Heavy pieces were moved on wooden carts along a rail system.
