I'm told capybaras are having a moment, so here's a cute little guy having a snack on the Cuiabá river. There was a big pack of them that hung around the boat dock and would just stare at you when you wanted to pass. If you got close enough to touch them, they would begrudgingly move, just enough to keep from being touched and let you through. Very funny fellows, for sure.

I was just thinking about metadata, and it occurred to me that a big part of the problem with "ownership" of your #photography online is that #EXIF data is routinely stripped from files upon upload to social media.

I thought Mastodon would be different, so I downloaded one of my recent photos from here and checked. Sadly, no.

This seems like a huge oversight. I understand some people will want this for privacy's sake, but it should be something that could be enabled per account, surely?

Here's the EXIF data from the file on my hard drive, pre-upload, rightly identifying myself as the "artist".

Theater District, Manhattan - 7th Avenue at 53rd Street

It’s wild to see a 10+ block view clear of traffic south to Times Square. The protest march is right behind me. Thousands of people are watching and joining the route from side streets.

I have been notably silent, on vacay and enjoying my time. We're headed to Twisp, WA tomorrow after spending time at the Grand Canyon and the Pickin' In the Pines Bluegrass festival in Flagstaff.

This is a pic I took several years ago on the way up the valley from Wenatchee to Twisp. I'm never one to pass up a good reflection. 😉
