A tall, cream-coloured office building labelled Regent House stands in sunlight, casting long shadows. The street in front is mostly empty, with some trees, streetlights, and signage visible. The sky is clear and blue.

A tall, rectangular beige office building with many square windows is shown under a clear blue sky. The sign on the upper left reads Ingeus House. Shadows from trees and nearby buildings partially cover the lower part of the structure.

A tall, white building labelled Regent House with a Travelodge sign stands against a clear blue sky. Bare trees and two other buildings surround it. A curved walkway with metal railings appears on the left side of the image in the foreground.

Yarra River Trail, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

A photograph shot at a distance across a gently rippled river. On the other side of the river on the stone-brick river bank is an asphalt trail with three bicycle riders evenly spaced riding towards the right, with a younger rider leading at the front on the right. Cutting diagonally from the centre left to the middle-upper right is another asphalt trail which joins on (at the lower left), and there is a pedestrian walking down this trail. The pedestrian is positioned in the photograph between the centre and right-most cyclist, and the pedestrian's feet are at about the chest-level of the riders. The rest of the land is evenly-coloured green grass. There is a sign to the left of the left-most cyclist that says "CAPITAL HILL TRAIL." At the top of the grassed area is a road, with poles and parked cars. There is another trail at the road level with some more pedestrians on the left of the frame. In the background are trees with muted-colour leaves and a gentle dirt hillside.

Mocca on Maiden Lane

A quiet San Francisco morning frames Maiden Lane as warm storefront lights glow beneath tall buildings. A lone street hawker stands centered in the narrow passage, adding a human spark to the stillness. Soft, painterly tones give the urban scene a nostalgic, early‑day calm.

Mocca On Maiden Lane

The scene opens on a narrow San Francisco lane washed in soft early‑morning light. Tall buildings rise like quiet sentinels, their windows catching a faint golden glow. The air feels cool and still, as if the city hasn’t fully awakened.

At the center stands a lone street hawker, a small but vivid spark of life against the muted architecture. Warm storefront lights spill onto the pavement, creating gentle pools of amber that contrast with the cool gray of the stone walls. The street’s perspective draws your eye inward, giving the moment a sense of depth and quiet anticipation.

The overall mood is calm, painterly, and slightly nostalgic—an urban morning suspended between night’s hush and the day’s coming bustle.

This is a black and white street photo in landscape format of a young Asian man sitting on a pavement, legs crossed, beer can in one hand and talking in a mobile phone held in the other hand. Little India, Singapore (2015).

Extending away from the lower left corner upwards and diagonally through the centre and up to the top of the photo is the pavement. Three large flower pots filled with lush tropical plants line the pavement between the lower left corner and the centre of the image. In the centre of the photo and sitting on the pavement next to the last flower pot is our young Asian (Indian) man. The camera is located a metre above the quiet road: in the road, a metre from the pavement and angled towards the man. The first two flower pots are gently blurred out of focus as is anything beyond our man. He is sitting crossed legged at the front edge of the pavement with his feet and knees overhanging the road, the rest of his body obscured behind the flower pot. He is leaning forwards with his head just in front of the plants. He has dark, slightly curly hair, is wearing a long sleeved dark shirt and dark shorts. His feet are bare with his sandals placed neatly together on the road. In his right hand is the beer can and in his left the mobile phone, held up to his left ear. The quiet street stretches from the centre of the image to the right edge. The road's top surface is peeling away from the underneath.

The brick building across the street from the venue where my open mic is held, for coming up on three years has never ceased to provide ample fascinating opportunities for visual studies. I'm undecided which of these I'm more partial to (or maybe I could just keep both)
