I had one of those...
'The picture looks great on the viewfinder, but meh in the editor'
kinda days.

I still like my keeps, but I took way more than these, that kinda fell flat, and I knew at the time why they would.

"Oh boy, another f-ing fence"

Seriously, I had a really like... ektachrome-looking shot of these two airplanes and get kept getting blocked by fences.
Shot of the city? Damn fence I have to zoom or get past.
Oh, a highway? Darn, now I have to use high shutter speeds.
It was also one of those, "the sun just bleaches everything" kind-of 11:00ams.

Lessons for the future.
I bet the Airport does tours, which would nix the fence and get me closer, and get me more variety.
There is a golden spot, on an on-ramp right around MLK down 52 South where I could hit the whole skyline with a wide-angle.
The sun faces the mirror-building(BB&T Financial Center) during the morning so I'll have to get down there early, and get a partly-cloudy day for some colors.
There's this local meme of taking a photo of it during sunrises and sunsets so you can catch the sky way bluer than the reflection on the building, and I'm not attempting originality yet, or rather, I'm still beneath it.
I will return soon,
but not for art

for revenge.

The Creature met an ancestor! 🦣 🦴 🏛️

#TheLaBreaTarPits #LosAngeles #California #Fossils #Merchtodon #Paleontology #Photo #Photography #Plushtodon #LetyDoesSelfies

Photo of Lety and the Creature Mastodon stuffed toy standing in front of a mastodon museum exhibit under warm, indoor lighting. From top to bottom, Lety is shown wearing a short, white, long-sleeve dress with red floral print and brown sandals. Her body is roughly facing the camera, the Creature in her arms, as she turns her and the Creature back towards her left to look up at the massive fossilized skeleton of an American mastodon. On the floor between Lety and the skeleton is an exhibit sign reading “American mastodon”, “(Mammut americanum)”, “2 million to 10,000 years ago”, with a map showing the species' historical range across North America and some other out-of-focus text. In the background are several other museum visitors viewing smaller fossil displays in glass cases along a back wall.

A black and white analog photo showing a dense, shadowy forest. Up front, two thick, twisted tree trunks grab your attention, their rough bark lit up by sharp beams of light cutting through the scene. In the background, a whole crowd of thinner trees fades into the mist, but there’s still plenty going on. Light slices through at an angle, catching bits of bark and leaves, making the whole place feel alive and uneasy. The ground’s rough, with patches of grass and scattered rocks. The mood is tense and mysterious, like the forest’s hiding something. A soft vignette around the edges pulls your eyes toward the center, where the light feels almost theatrical.

A black and white photograph of a winter landscape, taken on a snowstorm day, shows three deer at the edge of a snow-covered street, with drifts and tall, dark evergreens to the left. The three deer are looking towards the photographer, their ears pricked. Behind them, the tree-lined, snow-covered street rises and turns to the right, disappearing into the blizzard. The heavy snowfall is visible against the dark evergreens.

Missing the autumn light. (This is a re-post from another iteration of me.) #photography
https://photovotary.mataroa.blog/photography/

A color film photograph taken with my Nikon F3 using FujiFilm 400. In soft focus, the golden sunlight of autumn streaks across the frame clusters of hexagonal dots off light through rusty fall leaves hanging on to otherwise skeletal tree branches. A drop of water is slowly growing at the end of a thin knobby branch. All around is a jumble of autumnal sighs, appreciating the sun. (Photo taken September 2024; post May 19 2026)

Garment District - 40th Street at Eighth Avenue 🏙️

The New York Times Building 📰

#NYC #Photography #Architecture #MonochromeMarch

A monochrome, low-angle photograph that captures the south facade of the New York Times Building in the Garment District neighborhood of Manhattan, looking directly upward toward the sky. The perspective creates a powerful sense of verticality, as the building’s parallel lines converge toward a central point high above, making the skyscraper appear to pierce the wispy, streaked clouds. The facade is defined by a rhythmic, grid-like pattern of glass windows layered behind a distinctive curtain of horizontal ceramic rods, which create a fine, textured screen across the building's surface. The high-contrast black-and-white tones emphasize the play of light and shadow across the architectural details. Exposed steel framing is visible along the outer edges of the tower, highlighting its industrial aesthetic and structural transparency. The sky is a deep, dramatic grey, filled with feathery cirrus clouds that radiate outward from behind the building’s crown, adding a dynamic, ethereal quality to the rigid geometric precision of the skyscraper.

A kayak is traveling down a winding creek between sand dunes overgrown with trees in autumn colors reflecting on the calm water. Bright orange, red, and yellow leaves contrast against a clear blue sky, creating a serene natural scene. In the distance, an old wooden dock is tilted from the yearly freezing and thawing. In the distance the creek turns to the left, leading into the unknown.
