A grey stucco relief on a house wall: a forest or garden scene with lots of plants and a tree on either side. A large snake slithers down from the tree on the right. With its tongue flickering and its mouth wide open, it pounces on a large toad crouching beneath the tree on the left. The toad is missing a chunk of its head – perhaps the snake has already swallowed it? On the other hand, the snake has also seen better days: its head has been replaced, as can be seen from the lighter colour of the stucco. So much for the elegance of reptiles.
Yes, even a snake has to swallow a fat toad at some point in its life...
