Did not expect this to be a Journey clone. Journey was a very specific work though, where its mechanics symbolically reinforced its themes. I'm not sure if using those mechanics here is a good idea, but so far I did enjoy what I saw. But a game like this, I think, lives or dies by its narrative. The twist at the end of the demo did get me curious enough to want to play the full game. It seems to be a new spin on the old Mountains of Madness premise, but it's hard to say right now.

This is a just a much lower-budget, more amateurish and incompetent version of CoD Zombies, but with a PS1 flair to it.

Another in the series of F.E.A.R. clones. Kind of a shame because this one has extremely strong core combat, but everything around it is undercooked. A lot of jank, very basic level design for the most part. When it does try to be more complex (the Jungle level), it becomes a confusing mess. It's trying to do too much, the vehicles are terrible to control and shouldn't be here. Ultimately it's a one-trick pony. Because beyond combat, there's nothing there, even though the combat itself is strong enough to keep you playing through the game's very short duration.

When I first played Titanfall 2, I thought the freedom of movement and emphasis on platforming was really fresh, but even by the end of that game I was beginning to get tired of it. Now every FPS these days comes out with dashing, wall-running, sliding, etc. I couldn't quite put my finger on why these shooters are so boring to me. But I think something of the immersion is being lost with the complete removal of player friction. Once you're hopping around the level at the speed of light, defying gravity, you no longer feel grounded in the game's world. I think this is taking games backwards to like the early Atari games, where all that mattered was mechanics within the simplistic worlds of abstract geometric shapes. I think this is reverting the progress of games as an art form.

This is really sick, in more ways than one. The rating is for the demo, and I'm expecting the final game to be more than just repetition of the kind of level we see here, but this is so thoroughly-crafted for an indie. I've seen people compare it to Manhunt, but the similarities are superficial (mostly aesthetics). Mechanically this is much closer to Condemned, except better and probably what Condemned should've been. It's more of an FPS than a Stealth game.

It's basically a fine game. The kinetics and John Woo-style particles give enough tactile satisfaction to keep playing. My question is: why wouldn't you just play F.E.A.R. or Max Payne, both of which have all this, plus much better level design, slow-mo, aesthetics and story?
@Audrey I had a similar situation. Stopped being friends. I'd rather no friend than a half-hearted friend.
@TheQuietGamer I would've watched it if that was the title.
