《英汉对比研究(增订本)》分上下两篇：“英汉语言文化”与“中西思维方式”。上篇首先论述英汉对比研究的重要性、英汉语言对比研究、英汉语言文化对比研究、英汉文化语言学的研究对象、英汉文化语言学的研究方法，进而挑选十对带有普遍意义的英汉语言文化专题，采用宏观与微观相结合的方法，逐题进行对比分析。所讨论的内容涉及英汉的语法特征、修辞手段、表现方法、文体风格、翻译技巧、写作技巧、思维方式以及相关社会文化因素。下篇首先论述思维方式的定义、类型、思维方式与语言和文化的关系、思维方式的四大基本特征，进而挑选十对中西思维方式的主要特征，逐对进行对比分析，并概括这十对特征之间的互相联系。《英汉对比研究(增订本)》深入浅出，旁征博引，论述与实例并茂，学术性与实用性并重，对高等院校英语师生、英汉语研究者、译者、对外汉语师生及广大英汉语学习者都有参考价值。

《英美诗歌名篇详注》是在《英语诗歌精品》(北京大学出版社，1995)和《英国名诗详注》(外语教学与研究出版社，2003)的基础上修订而成的。在英国诗歌部分，《英美诗歌名篇详注》略去了一些较早的作品，只包括从莎士比亚开始直至20世纪的英国诗歌；也删去了若干较长的诗歌，以短小的诗歌为主；此外，还缩减了某些诗人作品的数量。除英国诗歌外，《英美诗歌名篇详注》增加了适量的美国诗歌，收进了从浪漫主义早期直至20世纪具有代表性的短小诗作。在编排方面，包括作者简介、诗歌文本、注释和参考译诗4个部分，但书后也添加了主要参考书目和人名索引，以利读者的查阅。
