Fly amanita

#nature #naturephotography #mushroom #mushrooms #fungus #fungi #moss #mosstodon #autumn

A photograph of a large fly amanita mushroom, growing right behind a moss covered dead tree lying in the foreground.

The mushroom stands to the right in the frame and is quite large, with a tall white stem and a bright red cap with white specks.

The cap is wide and fully folded out and has a small hole where some animal has eaten a bit of it.

A small fly is sitting near the right edge of the cap.

The background is an out of focus green vignetted blur, with some structure in it.

Macro scene of tiny, young orange mushrooms (I guess genus Mycena, saw some orange ones on the same spot last year) growing on decaying wood. The wood is covered in hyphal threads. They are not growing upwards, but are laying flat on the wood. One on the top left, is already rotting, while still immature. This photo was made by stacking about 200 pictures.

#Today 22

Good day!

This is my favorite time of year to focus on the forest floor, rather than in the trees.

That’s where stuff is happening, including color changes.

Not that I’m an expert. More like the opposite. Oh, but curiosity…

Be everwell.

A mushroom that’s ivory in color and thick grows amidst pine cones and pine needles. It’s extremely bulbous and was bigger than my splayed hand.

It's a Pegshroom 😅 https://buff.ly/aiFPAR1

#photography #Nature #Woodland #Fungi #WoodlandPhotography #mycology

A close-up, low-angle photograph on a damp forest floor. On the right, a weathered, square-topped peg or bolt rises upright from a rotting log coated in lush green moss. In the softer background to the left, a wild mushroom stands with a pale stem, broad brownish cap, and dark gills underneath, echoing the shape of the peg. The backdrop features soft, dappled greenery and brown woodland debris. The mood is quiet, earthy, and curious.

Boletus edulis or Porcino mushroom, a delicacy

#nature #naturephotography #mushroom #mushrooms #fungus #fungi #heather #autumn

A vertical photograph of a reasonably large Boletus edulis mushroom. The mushroom has a domed dark brow cap that is white right at the edge and a lighter stem that darkens further up and has a webbed or striated appearance.

The mushroom grows under a heather shrub with green leaves and a few pale flowers.

Some grass grows around the mushroom and the background is out of focus and heavily vignetted.

The white tower

#nature #naturephotography #mushroom #mushrooms #fungus #fungi #moss #mosstodon #autumn

A close up photograph of a white mushroom. The mushroom is quite small, but not tiny, with balanced proportions between the slightly bent white stalk and the white cap. The cap is almost flat at the top and with rounded sides, its edge pointing straight down creating an umbrella shape. The slightly jagged edge hints of gills un the underside, that cannot be seen in the photograph. The cap is translucent enough to give just a hint of light shining on the stem under the cap.

In front of the stem is some green moss, in sharp focus

The background is entirely out of focus. It is green, brightest behind the mushroom and fading away to darkness around the edges.

I found myself crouching on the ground again earlier today in the forest, next to a large log absolutely covered in these mushrooms. https://buff.ly/nbiRO6B

#photography #Nature #Autumn #Fungi #mycology

A close-up, eye-level photograph of a cluster of small wild mushrooms growing from a decaying woodland log. In the foreground, rounded caps with creamy-yellow edges and warm reddish-brown centres are in sharp focus. Slender pale stems support the tight grouping. In the softly blurred background, another scattered colony of smaller pale mushrooms recedes into cool teal and shadowy woodland tones. The overall atmosphere is quiet, damp, and earthy with a cool, autumnal mood.

Crop of a macro photo of a spider (any suggestions on which one?) hiding on a horse chestnut husk covered in white Lachnum fruiting bodies. These tiny (some are less than 1mm2 big) fungi are cup-shaped and have hairy fringes around the edges of their caps. The spider is black, also hairy and is about as tall as the spikes on the husk. Made by stacking about 200 pictures.

Russula paludosa, in Helvetinjärvi National Park, Finland

#photography #mushroom #fungi #nature #botany #finland #hiddenbeauty #colorred

A large red-capped mushroom grows from a lush forest floor covered in bright green moss, fallen leaves, pine needles, and small twigs. Its broad, slightly irregular cap curves upward at the edges, revealing closely spaced cream-colored gills underneath. The thick white stem rises from the moss at the center. Small water droplets glisten on the cap and surrounding vegetation, suggesting a damp forest after rain. Green shrubs and blurred tree trunks form a soft, natural background, while the mushroom’s vivid red cap provides a strong focal point.

A close up photograph of what is probably a small specimen of Yellow stagshorn fungus. The fungus is a few centimeter tall and is a capless fungus, only having a branched, bright yellow stalk with split tips, resembling small antlers.

The fungus is surrounded by green moss and a few brown pine needles, and the background is a dark, green blur, quite vignetted.

I was out exploring the woods the other afternoon and this massive bracket fungus caught my eye right at ground level. It was practically wrestling its way through a thick tangle of ivy and green grass. https://buff.ly/HtOzmlR

#photography #Nature #Woodland #Fungi #ForestFloor #mycology

A top-down close-up photo of a large, tiered bracket fungus growing close to the ground. The mushroom caps form an overlapping, scalloped semicircular rosette with undulating, wavy pale edges and a soft brown, textured surface. Dark green leaves of common ivy, blades of woodland grass, and patches of green moss weave naturally through and around the fungus. The lighting is soft and diffused, creating a calm, natural, and earthy forest floor atmosphere.

Inspired by the absolutely incredible photos of #fungi 🍄 posted by the ridiculously talented @arcturus recently, I took a shot when I ran into a shocking profusion of #mushrooms on my hike a couple of days ago. Alas, my very first #FungiFriday will also have to be a #shittember post. Even though I took dozens of photos, I got nothing I was hoping for. In fact (and I'll blame this on my exhaustion, the waning light, and my lack of eyeglasses), I'll be perfectly honest: I thought I was focusing on the mushroom in the foreground. 🤣 Anyway, here it is...
