The white tower

#nature #naturephotography #mushroom #mushrooms #fungus #fungi #moss #mosstodon #autumn

A close up photograph of a white mushroom. The mushroom is quite small, but not tiny, with balanced proportions between the slightly bent white stalk and the white cap. The cap is almost flat at the top and with rounded sides, its edge pointing straight down creating an umbrella shape. The slightly jagged edge hints of gills un the underside, that cannot be seen in the photograph. The cap is translucent enough to give just a hint of light shining on the stem under the cap.

In front of the stem is some green moss, in sharp focus

The background is entirely out of focus. It is green, brightest behind the mushroom and fading away to darkness around the edges.

The flame of the north

#nature #naturephotography #fungus #fungi #moss #mosstodon #autumn #macro #macrophotography

A close up photograph of what is probably a small specimen of Yellow stagshorn fungus. The fungus is a few centimeter tall and is a capless fungus, only having a branched, bright yellow stalk with split tips, resembling small antlers.

The fungus is surrounded by green moss and a few brown pine needles, and the background is a dark, green blur, quite vignetted.

Inspired by the absolutely incredible photos of #fungi 🍄 posted by the ridiculously talented @arcturus recently, I took a shot when I ran into a shocking profusion of #mushrooms on my hike a couple of days ago. Alas, my very first #FungiFriday will also have to be a #shittember post. Even though I took dozens of photos, I got nothing I was hoping for. In fact (and I'll blame this on my exhaustion, the waning light, and my lack of eyeglasses), I'll be perfectly honest: I thought I was focusing on the mushroom in the foreground. 🤣 Anyway, here it is...
