Jonge vrouw met kind, Mexico, Ed van der Elsken, 1960

![The image is a black and white photograph featuring a young woman in the foreground with a serious expression on her face. She appears to be at an outdoor market or public gathering, as evidenced by blurred figures of people engaged in various activities such as browsing items for sale or walking around in the background.
The woman has dark hair pulled back from her face, and she is wearing what seems like traditional attire, including a white blouse with some embellishments and possibly embroidery. Over one shoulder, there's a strap which could be part of a bag or accessory she carries.
She cradles an infant on her chest in the baby carrier type sling typically used to carry young children close to adults for safety and comfort. The child is wearing a hat with alternating colored panels, likely made from felt material common among outdoor clothing accessories.
The photograph exudes a sense of candidness, capturing a moment that feels authentic without posing or staging it as if partaking in everyday life activities rather than professional photography. It appears to be taken by Ed van der Elsken and depicts the woman with her child at an event likely within Mexico given its context provided, dating back to 1960.
