Schilderij van een geboeide man, aan een muur in Mexico, Ed van der Elsken, 1960

The image depicts a black and white photograph of a striking, dramatic sketch or drawing. It features two muscular figures engaged in what appears to be a physical struggle or confrontation. The figure on top is flexing their muscles with visible tattoos, including one that reads "1984" near the elbow. This character's face is obscured by shading but seems intense and focused. Below them lies another figure, seemingly on its back, showing signs of distress or vulnerability.

The background consists of stark contrasts between light and dark shades, emphasizing the physicality of the scene with dramatic effect. The composition suggests a narrative involving struggle, power dynamics, and possibly themes related to strength or endurance.

Quiet Photography 🖤🤍

A beautifully atmospheric, foggy day up on Stanton Moor here in Derbyshire yesterday.

In contrast, a super-weird atmosphere around the Nine Ladies Stone Circle following a tragedy at the summer solstice event 😢

Have a cracking week, people ☕️☀️

Bonne journée toutes et tous

Miroir de circulation, encadrement blanc, végétation autour. Dans le miroir se reflètent : un embranchement de 2 petites routes, les montagnes au loin, le ciel et entre les sommets un éclat lumineux orangé (soleil)

Check out Susanna Majuri. Her distinct style includes submerging the scenery in water.

First saw her work on a YT video with Basinski's Watermusic II, which is the first image from the gallery linked here.

Enjoy!

Caught in the spotlight at the water’s edge. 🌙🐾

A spotted hyena pausing mid-stride along the bank after dark, its rounded ears perked up and eyes locked right on us.

Full-body night photograph of a spotted hyena standing on a sandy riverbank with water flowing in the dark background. Illuminated by artificial light, the hyena has its front paw slightly lifted in motion as it turns its head to stare directly at the camera.

Night patrol at the river's edge. 🌙🐾
Spotted hyenas are highly intelligent, highly adaptable apex predators and scavengers that do most of their active hunting and patrolling under the cover of night. Catching this individual pausing along the illuminated waterbank gives a fantastic look at their distinct sloping silhouette and keen attentiveness.
