A silhouette of several sailboats docked in a calm body of water during twilight. The sky transitions from deep blue at the top to light yellow and orange near the horizon. Multiple sailboat masts and hulls appear as dark shapes against the lighter part of the sky. The still surface of the water reflects the vertical lines of the masts and the colors from the horizon. Wispy clouds are scattered across the middle section of the sky.

The Climate House at Hortus Botanicus, Amsterdam. 🇳🇱

One of my favourite botanical gardens so far, although tricky to shoot in this room. The camera was drenched, and the lens steamed up in only a few seconds, but I managed to grab this one with some beautiful natural light just in time.

My photograph of this intricate rock formation I captured at Newport Beach in the North of Sydney, NSW, Australia.

Intricate patterns in layers of sedimentary rocks display a range of earthy tones. The formations reveal the natural beauty of geological processes.

A detailed close-up of weathered sandstone revealing beautiful flowing layers, intricate patterns and rich earthy colours. Shades of rust, ochre, brown, cream and soft grey sweep across the rock surface, creating an almost abstract appearance. Shaped naturally by time, weather and erosion, the stone resembles a piece of ancient artwork painted by nature.

Near the water's edge around the headlands, you can also find the finer-grained, reddish layers of the Newport Formation (part of the Narrabeen Group), which also includes interbedded shales and siltstones.

Measuring Up to Jesus

The other day when I was on Social Media a quote I saw from sales guru hit me: “You become what you think about all day long”. It made me ponder on what I think about every day, which lead me to realize how much my thinking – and lifestyle – has changed over the years.

I used to be more selfish, helping and serving others with the end motive of serving my own needs and ego, and praying for my own needs – talking to God more than listening. St. Francis says [that] it is through giving that we receive, and I took it literal.

Today … when I give of myself I don’t look for what I receive, because the real gift is how God is blessing others through me .. which I may never see. My agenda has become God’s agenda. Said another way, I live my life as a prayer.

If we focus our attention on bad news and gossip, and distractions, we will miss God's incredible, visionary, optimistic purpose for every believer: to grow so much in our faith that we shine like beacons to everyone around us!

God's vision for each church is that we would grow so much in our love for God that we'd love people the way He loves them: unconditionally and passionately.

I was just thinking about metadata, and it occurred to me that a big part of the problem with "ownership" of your #photography online is that #EXIF data is routinely stripped from files upon upload to social media.

I thought Mastodon would be different, so I downloaded one of my recent photos from here and checked. Sadly, no.

This seems like a huge oversight. I understand some people will want this for privacy's sake, but it should be something that could be enabled per account, surely?

Here's the EXIF data from the file on my hard drive, pre-upload, rightly identifying myself as the "artist".

ALT

And here's the EXIF data from the exact same file after it had passed through Mastodon.social's servers, now missing the Artist and Copyright tags.

Theater District, Manhattan - 7th Avenue at 53rd Street

It’s wild to see a 10+ block view clear of traffic south to Times Square. The protest march is right behind me. Thousands of people are watching and joining the route from side streets.

#NYC #NoKings #AltText #Photography

A color, wide-angle photograph in portrait orientation that captures a rare, expansive view looking south down Seventh Avenue from 52nd Street toward Times Square. The broad asphalt canyon is strikingly empty of vehicles, cleared for an upcoming protest march. In the foreground, a few scattered pedestrians and a cyclist cross the wide street, while a single black police SUV sits at a red light on the left. In the mid-ground, a dense crowd of people begins to swell, filling the street and sidewalks as they head south. The towering skyscrapers on either side create a deep linear perspective, drawing the eye toward the horizon where the blue sky and soft white clouds peek through the urban corridor. The architecture is a mix of classic stone facades and modern glass towers, many of which are adorned with the vibrant, glowing digital billboards characteristic of the Theater District. On the right, American flags flutter from a building near the "I LOVE NY GIFTS" shop and the Playwright Tavern. Bright yellow traffic lights hang over the empty lanes, their glow contrasting with the cool shadows cast by the buildings. The lighting is crisp and natural, with sunlight hitting the upper stories of the skyscrapers and casting long, soft shadows across the street, emphasizing the scale and temporary stillness of the normally bustling Manhattan thoroughfare.

I have been notably silent, on vacay and enjoying my time. We're headed to Twisp, WA tomorrow after spending time at the Grand Canyon and the Pickin' In the Pines Bluegrass festival in Flagstaff.

This is a pic I took several years ago on the way up the valley from Wenatchee to Twisp. I'm never one to pass up a good reflection. 😉
