I have refused to live
locked in the orderly house
of reasons and proofs.
The world I live in and believe in
is wider than that. And anyway,
what's wrong with Maybe?

You wouldn't believe what once or
twice I have seen. I'll just
tell you this:
only if there are angels in your head will you
ever, possibly, see one.

The World I Live In by Mary Oliver

It's not a true monochrome image. Its because of heavy fog, overcast lighting, and snow it appears to be one. I took the photograph few years back when I was visiting old Manali in Himachal Pradesh. It was snowing and I had the pleasure of watching nature's little miracle for hours. In the image, you see snow covered ground full of leafless trees shrouded in mist and fog. I'm guessing there are also pine or cedar trees in the picture. After living so long near the beaches, the yearning for mountains is intense.

Witte bladzijde met door Van der Elsken zelf gecalligrafeerde hoofdstuktitel 'Mexico, Ed van der Elsken, 1959 - 1960

#Witte #VanderElskenzelf #Mexico #EdvanderElsken #fotografie #photography #EdVanDerElsken #EdvanderElsken

http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/collection/RP-F-2019-242-1-63(R)

The image displays a page from what appears to be an album or book, primarily featuring the word "Mexico" written in large black Gothic-style font. The text is centered on the right side of the white background with some yellowed and aged edges visible around the border. This particular design element gives it a vintage feel, suggesting that this could be part of a collection from travels taken during 1959-60 by Ed van der Elsken. There are no other discernible images or text on the page, emphasizing simplicity in its presentation. The overall condition shows signs of wear and age but is still legible and intact.

Almost at the Autumnal Equinox and at this time of the year, the sun sets behind Sunderland's Wearmouth Bridge on the River Wear in NE England from this viewpoint (not quite there yet!).
It works best when when it is slack water at high tide and calm conditions, unfortunately neither of which came into play on this occasion.
I'll be keeping an eye on the skies these next few days to see if I get an opportunity to improve on this capture, although there's no chance this time around of sunset coinciding with a high tide!

Just my 2 cents.

I love this video of Bellever in November 2024 I found. It was very cold with a light dusting of frost, there was a beautiful mist over the river and that night snow fell. #Dartmoor, #Devon #photography
