Horizontal shot. On a small step, 2 pairs of running shoes are aligned in front of a pair of coton pants, with no sign of their owner around. In the background, we can see docked boats.

Autumn is underway.
#Photography

Photo taken on an early Autumn morning, featuring an expanse of evergreen conifers and deciduous trees turning yellow and orange alongside a grassy meadow, shrubbery and bushes in the foreground.

The valley in the background is a dense stand of mixed evergreen and deciduous trees under an overcast, cloudy sky with hints of blue.

This stunning vantage point captures the Elbow River valley, looking down from Discovery Ridge in Southwest Calgary.

September 23, 2026

Color image of the Summit County Courthouse, Akron, Summit County, Ohio, USA, circa 1908. Image shows the view from the first floor lobby under the atrium, with the main level and the two floors above housing several courtrooms, and the fourth floor serving as the County Law Library, located at the same height as the atrium's skylights, the library surrounding that skylight on all four sides. Floors and pillars are marble, sandstone, and granite, with plaster ceilings and iron railings surmounted by chestnut tops, restored in 1984.

Crop of a macro photo of a spider (any suggestions on which one?) hiding on a horse chestnut husk covered in white Lachnum fruiting bodies. These tiny (some are less than 1mm2 big) fungi are cup-shaped and have hairy fringes around the edges of their caps. The spider is black, also hairy and is about as tall as the spikes on the husk. Made by stacking about 200 pictures.

The O brook (the stream that runs under saddle bridge), yesterday, a lovely wild spot near Combestone tor, Dartmoor, #Devon. The area is the site of a rare dragon folklore story on #Dartmoor, although a relatively recent one, the dragon was seen in the tin mine workings in the 19th century. The ‘dragon’s breath’ reported by locals was most likely vapour from tin mining. #photography #folklore

Alpine goats just have the coolest ears. I haven't the faintest idea what evolutionary advantage might be conveyed by black-rimmed ears but they sure look good.
