I love standing beneath piers, and the wooden San Clemente Pier is one of my favorites. I’m not even sure why. Maybe it’s the sound of the waves, the repeating pilings, or the way the light filters through.

Late afternoon sun, low on the Pacific horizon, turned the waves a beautiful emerald green.

Emerald green waves surge between the wooden pilings beneath the San Clemente Pier, illuminated by low afternoon sunlight from the Pacific horizon.

When you go looking in your garden, *really* looking, you find all sorts of weird wildlife... this was, thankfully, very tiny (shot with a Canon 500D close-up filter).

A rather ugly looking black-and-white checked fly with dark red eyes, perching on a green leaf at an angle, perhaps waiting to pounce?

Dark close-up of a textured, grid-like glass door lit diagonally from the left by warm, yellowish light. Three dark blue rectangular panels stand out clearly against the lit surface in the middle of the frame. On the left, a narrow vertical frame and a dark, square door handle. The door stands slightly ajar, with light shining through a gap along its side.

The Island V/IX.

Métis-sur-Mer, August 2026.

#sea #seascape #island #sunrise #fog #photography

Photograph of a small rocky island, slightly obscured by fog in the middle of the sea, with a sunrise sky above it, with bands of grey-blue clouds and pink light. In the foreground, the coast of rocks and pebbles at low tide appears black, emerging from the sea, the same intense blue as the sky.
