I love standing beneath piers, and the wooden San Clemente Pier is one of my favorites. I’m not even sure why. Maybe it’s the sound of the waves, the repeating pilings, or the way the light filters through.

Late afternoon sun, low on the Pacific horizon, turned the waves a beautiful emerald green.
