A black and white macro photograph of a dark maple leaf, bathed in sunlight and still partially buried under the surrounding white snow. Because of its darker color, the sun has melted the snow more quickly on the leaf, giving it an encrusted appearance with a glossy, icy outline. The palmate veins of the maple leaf stand out in the sunlight.

Black and white photograph of a small tree in winter, bare of its leaves and in the middle of a field completely covered with smooth white snow. The shadows of other larger trees extend over the snow behind the small tree in the foreground. Shrubs are in the background.

The image features a vibrant red flower with elongated petals clustered along a slender, vertical stem. The petals are narrow and pointed, creating an intricate pattern as they protrude from the stem. The background is softly blurred, filled with varying shades of green, giving a sense of depth and drawing focus to the flower. The lighting highlights the bright, vivid red color of the petals.

Red sky at dawn over the mangroves at Makasutu, The Gambia, 2011. The vivid orange and crimson clouds reflect on the calm river, framed by dark silhouettes of mangrove trees on both banks, creating a fragile, fiery glow across the water.

Close up of a brown cow chewing grass and looking straight into the camera. There are numbered tags on both ears, and a bell hanging around its neck. There are mountain peaks in the distance.

Caught that perfect moment when the sun aligns with the infrastructure. The textures & silhouettes during golden hour are unbeatable.

A wide-angle landscape photograph of a railway station at sunrise. A very long freight train sits on the tracks to the right, silhouetted against a bright orange sun low in the hazy sky. To the left is an empty concrete platform bordered by a low wall and trees. Overhead electrical catenary wires and metal structures crisscross the upper frame. A single small bird is perched on one of the high wires on the right. The overall color palette is dominated by warm oranges, yellows, and deep shadows.

I'm slowly starting to share more images from my multi-year project "This Land Remembers", an odyssey into the last remaining ancient native woodlands of Scotland (like this one from a brilliant Autumn morning in 2025). I also have an upcoming exhibition at Gallery Photiq this April/May featuring 12 prints from the project, including this image.
