The image is a black and white, close-up portrait of a bicolor cat resting outdoors. The cat is predominantly black with a white chest, muzzle, and paws. It is lying down, with its front paws extended forward. The cat's gaze is directed slightly towards the viewer, and its eyes are partially closed, giving it a somewhat sleepy or contemplative expression. Fine white whiskers fan out from its muzzle. The texture of its fur is visible, particularly on its face and paws.
Behind the cat is a chain-link fence, the diamond pattern of which creates a textured backdrop. The fence is supported by a metal post on the left side of the frame, which has a slightly rounded top. The ground beneath the cat is composed of rough stones and some dry pine needles. To the far left of the frame, a curved metal element, possibly part of a railing or structure, is visible and out of focus.
The lighting appears somewhat diffused, casting subtle shadows and highlighting the textures of the cat's fur, the fence, and the stones. The monochrome palette emphasizes the contrast between the black and white areas of the cat's fur and the varied shades of gray in the background elements.
The composition places the cat as the central subject, with its face and upper body filling a significant portion of the frame. The diagonal line of the fence and the horizontal lines of the ground create a balanced but dynamic setting.

Biodiversity research is for example an important aspect of climate research.

The beetle #Harmonia #axyridis from East Asia was distributed worldwide for biological #pestcontrol, and is established in Europe since 2001. The #photos show a specimen in #Berlin. I. A. Minnaar et al. (2022) demonstrate in South Africa, in a comparison with #Cheilomenes #lunata, that the #invasive A. axyridis survived better in simulated environments, despite divergent #traitplasticity.

The #CleanUp of the #Photos #App on the #iPhone gets better and better. Before #iOS 27, removing such shadows without interfering with the handrail and its shadow would have been close to impossible.
