Shades of ice.

Stockholm, January 2024

#monochromemonday #blackandwhitephotography #photography #darktable

$High contrast black and white photograph of 2 different ice textures. The picture is split in 2 parts: the left part is composed of broken ice blocks that in some parts fused back together. The blocks are unequal and some are much larger than others. The right part is composed of a single ice sheet, that shows some cloudy inner texture and a small amount of snow on top (the snow covers a very small fraction of the ice). The thing splitting the picture in 2 is a mostly vertical metal construction used to guide boats through the bridge from which the picture is taken$

Canyon De Chelly a couple of days ago.

#Travel #RoadTrip #Landscape #Desert #Canyon #Photography #Darktable

A color portrait photo of a canyon. The canyon is deep with tall vertical walls of a brown-red sandstone. There are bushes and small trees in the relatively flat bottom of the canyon. A dirt road winds along the bottom. The canyon makes a backwards "S" shape. In the foreground and a fin shaped rock about half of the height of the canyon. It stands separate from the cliff on the far right as a gap is seen at the base.

I don’t do carousel, I find them cumbersome to navigate and makes me feel that none of the pics matter. I use carousel sometimes to add some context or for before/after comparison stuff only

Santa Clara River north of the San Gabriel Mountain, onboard Metrolink Antelope Valley line. It was HOT outside, like 40 degrees C. The river is where the green vegetation grows, as is common in SoCal rivers. In the early days of my new life in NYC, I missed LA, so I played Train Sim World which has this line. #losangelescounty #sangabriels #sangabrielmountains #river #forest #landscape #photography #darktable

I took the train all the way to the last stop, Lancaster, CA. I had an hour before the train back to LA, so I had dinner in Lancaster and took a walk on Lancaster Blvd. It was already pretty empty. This is a little art studio on Lancaster Blvd. #losangelescounty #bluehour #architecture #photography #darktable

Started noticing decorations and ads popping up this weekend....six weeks before Halloween.

Anyone else think the true meaning behind these festive days and holidays gets a bit lost when marketing is done so far in advance? Especially Thanksgiving and Christmas here in the US.

#photography #blackAndWhite #manualFocus #50mm

Black and white photo of a 2-2.5 meter tall Halloween skeleton taken in a small indoor shopping mall in 4x3 landscape format.

The skeleton is pictured from the pelvis up with both arms outstretched to its front, as if to say "I'm coming to get you". Glowing hearts are centered in its dark, deep-set eye sockets.

The background consists of framing architecture intersecting vertically at the right third of the frame, creating four sections of 15-45 degree triangles opening to the left. From bottom to top:

1. Deep shadows from the top half of the storefronts. Decorative string lights run horizontally across the frame.

2. A single light colored load bearing support beam, two white plank siding runners, and three dark gain plank siding runners.

3. Six two-paned rectangular windows on the left, and two rectangular two-paned rectangular windows on the right.

4. Dark colored grained wood planks decorate the mall's roof. The left architectural framing line starts at the top left third of the photo.

Back in May we visited WWT Welney. Out the front of the visitor centre a Moorhen was parenting chicks in the pond.

We watched as they floated around the pond and slowly made their way to the edge where they could climb out.

🇬🇧 horizontal colour photograph of an oak tree against the backlight of the sun on a slightly misty December morning. Rays of sunlight pierce the mist through the bare branches. The sky is blue, the grass green, and the silhouette of the tree is rendered in various shades of dark brown. This is ‘my oak tree’, just a stone’s throw from my home. 😊

Pink Limo

#photography #vernissage #darktable #France #Paris #streetPhotography #cars

As I was cropping more often these days, I though that maybe I need to get out with the 56mm more. So it’s the one attached and while harder for architecture shots, it is a focal that I quite enjoy even for street photography. It makes the photo more precise in its intention
