Ancascocha Trek to Machu Picchu 5 Days

The Ancascocha Trek to Machu Picchu is a 5-day expedition through the best-kept secret in the Andes—a route named by National Geographic as one of the world’s 20 best hikes. While other paths become crowded tourist highways, this hidden Inca trail remains a sanctuary of silence, purity, and absolute exclusivity.

A shot of treetops from ground level. Most of the leaves are green, but some in the center are turning yellow orange. A jet contrail slants through the sky above.

#trick-photography #photography

This image looks like a four-part photo collage with a caption which states "Bela Borsodi photograph; this is a single picture (not 4) made by rearranging things in his apartment".

It at first seems like 4 completely distinct square photos of various household items under different lighting, but closer inspection reveals that some objects span across multiple "sub-images," and their appearance contradicts the expected effects of varied lighting. The composition includes items like chairs, a mop & bucket, a coffee table, toolboxes, a desk lamp, books, bottles, cups, paper towels, and a boot in a wastebasket.

The upper-left and lower-right sections initially suggest scenes lit by natural light. The upper-right and lower-left sections give the impression of being shot in blue light. Details like the desk lamp's arm extending from the lower-right through the upper-right into the upper-left, and its base appearing in the lower-right while its assembly is in the upper-left, reveal the illusion. Similarly, the coffee table extends from the lower-right into the lower-left where its surface appears to have been painted blue, and the mop handle bridges the lower-left and upper-left. Objects such as the desk lamp and mop handle which remain the exact same color across frames, along with certain colored objects in the blue-toned frames, challenge color constancy and reveal the single-image nature of the artwork.

Fotoreproductie van een foto met regendruppels op de voorruit van een Ford Sunliner, gezien van binnen de auto, op weg van Noord-Amerika naar Mexico, Ed van der Elsken, 1960

This black and white photograph is taken from inside a vehicle, looking out through the windshield with raindrops streaking across it. The perspective suggests that we are viewing this scene as if seated in the driver's seat of the car. Through the windshield, an overcast sky looms overhead while scattered droplets dot the glass surface.

The landscape outside appears to be rural or semi-rural, featuring a road flanked by what looks like fields and possibly some sparse vegetation underfoot. In the distance, beyond the open land, there are structures that could be buildings or farmhouses silhouetted against the sky. The overall atmosphere is one of movement through an expansive landscape on a rainy day.

The image captures both the texture of raindrops on glass as well as the softer focus of distant objects in perspective which indicates motion and distance from the observer's vantage point within the vehicle.

The Cora Cascade Vinca had been blooming all summer, and hopefully into autumn. Of course, we don't have much of a fall season.
