Good morning.
Between Muizenberg and Kalk Bay. Had a job on the movies and used to walk to work just before sunrise. I played an extra as a fisherman on a boat.

Happy autumnal equinox to all who celebrate. Some early color is showing on the passes here in southwest Colorado and I am slightly giddy. 🍂

The business end of a wax seal stamp. Apparently made of aluminum since magnets aren't attracted to it. About three-quarters of an inch in diameter. I'm guessing in was made back in the 1970s or 1980s and sold by Hallmark or some such store. The other side screws into a wooden handle, allowing that handle to be used with multiple stamps. This particular stamp features a fancy capital A (in reverse of course). I used to have a special light blue rectangular candle (with a simple ivy design on the wide sides) to use with it. I'd light the candle, tilt it, allow a few drops of melting wax to drip onto an envelope I wanted to seal, press the stamp into the hot wax, then let the wax cool and solidify with the A big and clear enough for the entire world to see (if the world happened to be in my room at the time). It all seemed rather magical back then, an act and a thing that made me one with all those historic kings and queens who'd seal their envelopes with their official seal - and woe unto those who dared break that seal without authorization! Unfortunately, I don't think many of my seals made their way safely through the US postal system intact (and lacking the power of a king or queen there was damn little I could do about it). Oh, well. I guess it really didn't matter since neither my first nor last name starts with an A. (I guess I forgot this when I made my purchase. *Sigh*)

Once the war ends, I would like to help contribute to the reconstruction of Kharkiv. This is one of my favorite images of Ukraine, does it still look the same, or has it been severely damaged/destroyed? (image downscaled slightly, due to Mastodon image file size restriction of 10 MiB, full resolution image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:%D0%A3%D1%81%D0%BF%D0%B5%D0%BD%D1%81%D1%8C%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%B9_%D1%81%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%BE%D1%80_%D0%B2%D0%B7%D0%B8%D0%BC%D0%BA%D1%83,_%D0%B0%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%BE%D1%84%D0%BE%D1%82%D0%BE.jpg )
