Ostentation and splendor

Taken on 55th St. and Lexington Avenue, this is the Central Synagogue (Manhattan) It is a national landmark building and was done in the Moorish Revival style. The photo was taken last week and I had been working on making it more colorful so perhaps added to the ostentation 😅

A color photo taken of the corner of a synagogue. It is done in a very dark stone and the windows have white stone arches over the top of them. The flat roof has intricate black wrought iron work going across like a fence. It looks quite medieval. There are two large but squat towers on each side that look like minarets . On top are giant globes, the bottom of which are dark and the top are gold. This old landmark building is in front of two high-rises that sprouted up behind it, one is very thin on the left and the other is very wide on the right. I have overlaid a photo with part of some rainbow colors on it. It makes the top of the photo look to be red, orange-ish, and yellow towards the top.

Blue Spotted Salamander i found while doing some fall cleanup.

A Blue Spotted Salamander at the bottom of a canning jar where it was being held while my wife and I examined it. The amphibian is black with blue spots. We released the individual back into the environment where it was found. These salamanders are slightly toxic, releasing a white sticky foul tasting substance to deter predators.

White Out 🤍 for #flowerfriday

I took this with my phone and I have no idea what I was thinking at the time. Probably no thoughts to be honest. ✨

your autumn bouquet
#nature #photography

A close-up shot of vibrant autumn foliage hanging over rippling grey water. The leaves are a mix of bright yellow, lime green, and deep burgundy, arranged in distinct clusters. The sunlight illuminates the translucent yellow leaves from behind, making them glow against the soft, out-of-focus background of the water.

“Red is everywhere in Montmartre”

We had arranged to meet up with other members of my photography club for an outing on the theme of “monochrome.”

I picked a red marble. Others picked green, yellow, or blue.

So I had to wander around the Montmartre area for about two hours to find subjects to photograph, with a…
