Morning's valley view
Ancient river courses north
City to city

Color image of a view from downtown Akron, Summit County, Ohio, USA, across the Cuyahoga River Valley. Image shows a view north across the Cuyahoga River Valley from downtown Akron across the broad valley between Akron and Cleveland, downtown Akron sited on the continental divide between water flowing to the south into the Tuscarawas River, which goes into the Ohio River watershed, into the Mississippi River, then into the Gulf of Mexico, and water flowing to the north, into the Cuyahoga River, into Lake Erie and the Great Lakes, finding its way into both the St. Lawrence River and Seaway and from there into the Atlantic Ocean (a lesser amount flows into the Erie Canal and, eventually, into the Hudson River, and into the Atlantic Ocean by way of the Hudson's entry at New York). The sky is bright blue above the valley, white wispy clouds high above a sunny and shadowed treeline of mostly native leafy trees.

Thanks to everyone for the very helpful comments. All were/are very helpful.

Looks like self-hosting and using Immich is the way to go. I've been wanting to do a bit of self-hosting and it looks like this will push me in the that direction.

Thanks, again!

The same Kestrel playing hide and seek.

#Birds #Photography #Japan

Blue sky, wispy clouds scattered around a square format shot with two power lines passing diagonally across the top quarter of the frame and one passing across the bottom. The top two have twisting cables wrapped around the power line to support their weight.

Somewhere in the shot is a partially concealed, mid-flight kestrel.

My face when I just want to drink a peaceful beer in the pub but the other old white men at the counter who never touched a computer in their lives start a heated discussion about the pros and cons of AI and their arguments are the kind of wrong where you can't even explain why they're wrong because they're entirely based on misread headlines in tabloids and second hand anecdotes they heard from other drunk people.

A boat glides along a calm river during a stunning sunset, with the sun casting a warm, golden glow over the scene. Buildings are silhouetted against the vibrant orange sky, and delicate branches frame the foreground. A single bird flies in the distance, adding a touch of movement to the tranquil setting.

Kleine Zankerei 😵‍💫

Hellblauer Morgenhimmel.

#Art #Photography

In the center stands a white marble bust depicting a long-haired man with distinct facial features. The bust is set against a warm, patterned reddish-brown marble wall.

Several visitors are seen from behind, standing close to inspect the exhibit. One visitor on the right is holding up an open newspaper featuring a headline "Die Walhalla".

Natural light cuts sharply across the scene in angular beams, casting bright highlights on the smooth white marble of the bust while leaving parts of the surrounding architecture and visitors in shadow.

Wand in de Parroquia de San Juan Bautista in Catemaco, Mexico, Ed van der Elsken, 1960

#Catemaco #Mexico #EdvanderElsken #ESATencionSrs #Peregrinos #Spanish #SanPelayos #SanPelagrosas #LaSantísimaVirgen #LatinAmerican #fotografie #photography #EdVanDerElsken #EdvanderElsken

http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/collection/RP-F-2019-298-4-11

The image depicts a young boy standing in front of a wall that appears to be within a religious or educational institution. He is dressed formally with what seems like clerical attire, including a dark robe over his clothing and holding an open book which could suggest he's reading or being taught something. The setting has a historical feel, indicated by the black-and-white photograph style and aged documents on display.

Various signs are affixed to the wall above him; one reads "ES ATencion Srs. Peregrinos" followed by more text in Spanish that includes references to Virgen de Loreto Arteaga and other religious figures like San Pelayos, San Pelagrosas, Recentes Uds., La Santísima Virgen... The language is indicative of a Latin American setting.

To the right side, there's an array of framed pictures or documents with some visible imagery that appears to be pastoral scenes. A handwritten note on paper also hangs from a hook attached to the wall, adding to the historical and communal atmosphere of the place.

The overall composition suggests this could have been taken in a parish house where locals gather for religious events or community activities. The photograph is credited to Ed van der Elsken with context provided by Wand in de Parroquia de San Juan Bautista in Catemaco, Mexico, from 1960.

Run through the fields, down to the edge of the water
Can't stay long, here comes the reason why
She'll catch me if she can, take me by the hand
I'll have to keep on running and I just can't see the fun in
My secret garden not being secret anymore
