First picture from our short day trip to Innsbruck. Will likely post a few the coming days.

Within a couple minutes of walking around we came across the "Befreiungsdenkmal", a memorial to those who fought against national socialism.

#photography

A photograph of the mountains in innsbruck. The sky is blue without clouds and the mountains tower over everything. In the foreground one can see the top of the "Befreiungsdenkmal" showing an Austrian flag, an eagle and the text "To those who died for the freedom of Austia" in multiple languages.

Brown-eared bulbul in a persimmon tree, enjoying some fresh persimmon.

#birds #birdphotography #naturephotography #wildlifephotography #bulbul #brownearedbulbul #photography

A bird's head appears from behind green leaves. It has a long, dark, pointy beak. The beak is open wide, and it is hold orange pieces of persimmon. The top of the head and lower part of the face has gray feathers with a bit of texture in the coloring. Behind the dark eye, the feathers are a dark brown color. In the background are some more blurry green leaves, and a bit of cloudy white sky.

What’s your favorite 120 film? I want to try a few.

I’ve only ever shot Ilford HP5+ 400 on 120.

On 35mm I’ve done that one, I love portra, I love the phoenixes. All recommendations welcome

A black-and-white, close-up photograph of a spherical flower head. Numerous thin, stem-like pedicels extend in all directions, each tipped with a small, textured seed capsule.

The bright white and gray tones of the plant sharply contrast against a completely black, featureless background, making the intricate details of the flower intensely pop.

A high-angle photograph of a freshwater stingray swimming in the shallow, murky water of a pond. The stingray has a round, disc-shaped body covered in a striking pattern of dark brown or black with vibrant orange ring-like spots. Its long, slender tail extends out into the calm water. Green aquatic plants grow out of the water on the left side, and a few small water striders are visible on the surface nearby.

Roots! Clinging desperately to the side of the hill! Or casually exploring the environs.
#Photography #SeattleWashington #SeattleParks #SeattleSpring #RavennaPark #NativePlants #NativePlantsOfThePNW #PseudotsugaMenziesii

An image of Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) roots growing on the side of a hill. The roots are gradually being exposed by weathering, and look a bit as if they are clinging for dear life. Doug firs are notoriously shallow rooted and are the most likely trees to fall in windy rainstorms

If you're into photography, there is a free open Flickr-style photography platform which you can host yourself called Vernissage. It also has Fediverse compatibility so people can follow Vernissage accounts from Mastodon, Pixelfed etc. More info at:

You can follow at:

🌱 @vernissage

For techy people who want to install their own Vernissage manually, docs are at:

A black and white image of a curved mountain slope, covered in grass. In the shallow pit two objects compose the shot: a small cabin / Cottage and a coniferous tree standing somewhat apart on the meadow, but still forming a balanced pair in the composition. In the distance / upper part a wooden fence marks a hiking trail with some bushes on the side.

The elder is throwing its creamy heads right now — you have about two weeks.

The old people kept it for fevers and the first scratch of a cold. Snip the heads late morning when the scent is up, shake the little life out of them, and steep. Then skip the fourteen-dollar bottle: a gallon of cordial is sugar, a few lemons, a spoon of citric acid, and a slow afternoon. Steep overnight, strain, sweeten, bottle.
