Why doesn't anyone ask about us and how we live in Gaza? We are dying of hunger every day, and we plead with everyone to help us, but no one responds. Bayan lost his father and brother, and I am now responsible for him, but I don't have enough money to buy him food. I hope someone can help him with a small meal.

Jardine's Crescent

(Details In The #AltText) (AltText By Human)

This is a dark and grungy black and white street photo in portrait format of a dim and dark alley with shuttered market stalls on either side and in the distance a man kicking an object. Jardine's Crescent, Hong Kong (2013).

The camera is located in the centre of this dim passageway, angled along it and about a metre and half above the ground. Extending away from the camera on both sides are closed market stalls, all with their shutters drawn down closed. The alley is about two and a half metres wide and stretches forward in a straight line for about fifty metres. Some of the market stalls have corrugated metal panels roughly placed above the entrances, all the stalls have small spiral neon lights hanging over the front. The rough concrete ground in front of the camera is brightly lit in the centre by the morning sun, with deep shadows on the side and is scattered with small pieces of litter. On the left there is an empty cloths rack a few metres in front of the camera and further on is a pallet of large cardboard boxes wrapped together with clear plastic. Perhaps ten metres from the camera and on the right side is the back of our man kicking out at some unknown object. Through the gaps in the corrugated roof panels is a bright sky, overexposed to brilliant white with the vague outline of a glass fronted tower block a hundred metres away.

'See oder Teich' #FotoVorschlag 'Lake or pond'

When it comes to lakes or ponds I almost always go for the nearby pond in #herzogenriedpark #mannheim. Today I went there as well, however I tried a little different view (find the duck).

Two silhouetted riders pause on horseback on a beach at sunset, framed by dark rocky cliffs; glowing amber light creates a quiet, cinematic mood.

„Sonntags am See“

An idyllic nature shot of a calm lake. In the foreground, a person stands in the shade as a dark silhouette by the shore, leaning far forward and peering intently down into the water as if watching or searching for something. In the background on the mirror-like water, a man rows a green wooden boat with a small child inside. The far shore is lined with dense green trees, with leaves framing the top of the image.

“Tufa, Sky, and Water” — An island of tufa formations under early morning sky, Mono Lake.

I think of this photograph, in part, as a study in tones. I had been photographing a brilliant sunrise in color, but as the first wild sunrise colors diminished I began to think about monochrome. (Of course, my camera being digital, I was capturing color images, though monochrome results were in my mind.) The brightest areas of the clouds were extremely bright, while the facing side of the tufa formations, being backlit, were very close to black. My plan was to control the bright areas in the exposure and then lift the shadows in post, just enough to hint at details on the tufa.
