The Moon looks big & bright tonight but it's not a full moon yet.
98.5% illuminated, waxing gibbous phase.
Full Harvest Moon is tomorrow. Wishing you clear skies

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
Just mailed the 28th monthly member newsletter, "New Resources for Affordable Creative Photography":
https://www.analog.cafe/r/new-resources-for-affordable-creative-photography-ajfw
It covers 27 tips for saving money on film, the new Lucky C400, developing C-41 at room temperature, and a few other things, with some BTS stuff from when I was making this month's article posters.
Happy Friday!
It’s all about pixels on the bird!
Long and or Zoom lenses are brilliant compensation for a lack of legs… when you can’t get closer to the subject. But you can’t beat nearness.
Here are three bird shots from today. The sparrow was right up close, the kestrel a hundred foot up, and the buzzard way up there. They’re all shot at 600mm but then cropped to roughly the same apparent size. The sparrow took almost no cropping at all, and the additional detail is clear.
Sparrow original crop 8205 x 5470 = 44.8 MPx
Kestrel original crop 2437 x 1624 = 4 MPx
Buzzard original crop 2419 x 1614 = 4 MPs and showing some optical distortion
Even at these reduced (1000 px long edge) resolution images it’s easy to see clarity cannot be cropped in. Get closer, when you can. But don’t climb electricity towers… 😉

I found this alien stuck between the window and the mosquito net.
I took some pictures before gently releasing it on the nearby tree.

Hier, bitte: Plac Wolności, Breslau / Wroclaw.
Mix of first results from the recent road trip to Bosnia. Amazing country and landscape to fall in love with. But also a crazy number of bushfires throughout the whole country 🖤
