Tropical green

#LeafScrolling #Nature #Photography

A close-up view of a large, vibrant green tropical leaf. The surface is covered in numerous water droplets of varying sizes, reflecting light.

A distinct band of light and shadow cuts diagonally across the lower-left section of the leaf, creating a high-contrast pattern.

Lake Bled, Slovenia, from a visit in 2023.

#Photography #Travel #Slovenia #Bled #LakeBled #Lake #Landscape

It's an overcast day with lots of layers of bubbling grey and white clouds but a brightness behind them that suggests the sun is ready to break through and bring with it more of the cloying warmth we can feel. We're standing at the edge of a very large lake. The bank of grass at our feet that stretches a couple of metres to the still water's edge is filled with daffodils in bloom, all at the same height and with their flower heads turned slightly to the left. The far side of the lake has a few, large hills, covered in trees and backed by a more distant range of higher hills that appear fainter in tone and with parts of their tops lost in the low cloud. Directly centre, far out in the lake, there is a small island rising half a dozen metres from the water to a flat top on which there is a small grouping of buildings, white-walled and topped with terracotta tiles except for a square tower, taller than the other structures, which has a black turret.

Jardine's Crescent

(Details In The #AltText) (AltText By Human)

This is a dark and grungy black and white street photo in portrait format of a dim and dark alley with shuttered market stalls on either side and in the distance a man kicking an object. Jardine's Crescent, Hong Kong (2013).

The camera is located in the centre of this dim passageway, angled along it and about a metre and half above the ground. Extending away from the camera on both sides are closed market stalls, all with their shutters drawn down closed. The alley is about two and a half metres wide and stretches forward in a straight line for about fifty metres. Some of the market stalls have corrugated metal panels roughly placed above the entrances, all the stalls have small spiral neon lights hanging over the front. The rough concrete ground in front of the camera is brightly lit in the centre by the morning sun, with deep shadows on the side and is scattered with small pieces of litter. On the left there is an empty cloths rack a few metres in front of the camera and further on is a pallet of large cardboard boxes wrapped together with clear plastic. Perhaps ten metres from the camera and on the right side is the back of our man kicking out at some unknown object. Through the gaps in the corrugated roof panels is a bright sky, overexposed to brilliant white with the vague outline of a glass fronted tower block a hundred metres away.
