The image depicts a close-up view of an autumn leaf, prominently positioned in the foreground against a blurred background of branches and a clear blue sky. The leaf is mainly orange with hints of red and brown on the edges, showcasing a classic maple shape with pointed lobes. It is speckled with darker spots, suggesting the natural aging process. The details of the leaf’s veins are highlighted by the sunlight filtering through its surface, creating a translucent effect. In the background, other leaves can be seen, partially out of focus.

The Devil's Slide Tunnel.
December 8th, 2025, 3:58 p.m.

This was a joint effort with my husband Chris (studiochris on Mastodon). After spending an afternoon in Half Moon Bay with Jeri Dansky, just before heading home we set my camera for a one second exposure at f/22... and, while I drove through the tunnel, Chris balanced the camera above the dashboard and kept the shutter firing, which actually makes Chris the photographer and me the guy in the chair who says Engage.

After we got home, I tried several methods of merging the best 8 or 9 shots in post... but I ended up liking this single exposure best because it was sharper than any of the muddier merges.

A 1 second exposure of the Tom Lantos Tunnel, under Montara Mountain, on Highway 1 just south of San Francisco. Shot through a car windshield using an ultrawide lens.

Vaguely resembling a jump to warp speed, beams of light shoot out past the camera from a distant point in the center of the frame. The majority of the light is gold... lighting the walls of the tunnel, the roadway, and the hood of the car. There is a streak of purple on the left wall of the tunnel... and smears of teal color closer to the vanishing point in the center.

It's all very satisfying to look at, said the guy in the chair (me) who likes to shout Engage whenever he starts driving his car.

A black and white photograph of a double wooden door surmounted by an arched window, at the top of a six-step concrete staircase with metal railings, set in a rectangular stone wall. A wall sconce is mounted on the wall to the right of the door. A large tree with a thick, straight trunk grows very close to the wall to the right of the door. Its bare lower branches are also visible. The sun casts the shadow of the tree and its branches onto the door and the wall.

Possibly not the MOST #Colorado #Photography I've ever done, but it's close. Unfortunately, phone camera, not my real camera but still, that's a kinda pretty picture!

A commuter train stands silently before a hell of a sunset in front of the Rocky Mountains. Sheets of clouds are died purple, red and pink and, of course, a flock of geese is flying against a blue swatch of sky.
