Houtpantserjuffer

#InsektenSamstag #Nature #Photography

A metallic green damselfly perched beneath a leaf, set against a smoothly blurred green foliage background.

The damselfly clings upside down to the underside of a bright green fern frond. Clear, delicate wings with intricate lattice-like venation fold closely together along its back.

Soft, natural light highlights the metallic sheen of the insect's body and the fine texture of the fern leaf. The background is a soft, out-of-focus green blur.

We had another #mantis visitor last week! This is the first brown one I've spotted. I saw my first one ever at my parents' place last year, and now they're everywhere here (an hour north of them). 😅 The survivor I posted two weeks ago came back for another photo session on the drive (put it in the wildflower plot afterwards), then I saw a crushed one on our street, and found one drowned in a pot of water I'd forgotten in the garden. 🙈
This one spent the whole day at eye level on a white wall by our drive, and I managed to take a few photos.

A vintage-style sepia photograph, presented as if on a film strip with sprocket holes and artificial scratches, captures a concentrated moment. Cynni is crouching on natural, rocky terrain among sparse bushes at Burgers' Zoo, fully focused on framing a picture. They look intently through the viewfinder of a black Nikon Coolpix P500 digital bridge camera, which they hold firmly with both hands. Their expression is one of deep concentration as they peer through the lens. Their left arm, featuring a complex stylized text tattoo, is bent, and a few rings are visible on their fingers gripping the camera body. They wear a dark short-sleeved t-shirt, camouflage cargo pants, and a dark baseball cap with white sunglasses perched on top. A Nikon-branded camera strap hangs around their neck. The background is a natural-looking zoo enclosure with other blurred figures of visitors visible in the far distance. The composition is a candid, close-up shot emphasizing their focus.

Look what we found in the garden yesterday! It was missing two legs and an antenna, so to keep it out of harm's way, we placed it in the lavender, where it started to groom its legs

Verbena bonariensis

A white butterfly with delicate greyish or dark markings along the outer edges of its wings, resting flatly with its wings open. The butterfly is perched upon a cluster of small, vibrant purple flowers, which are arranged in dense heads.

The background is softly blurred with a mix of green foliage and warm, dappled lighting, creating a shallow depth of field that makes the butterfly and flowers stand out prominently.

#InsektenSamstag #InsectSaturday #Libelle #Dragonfly #Fotografie #Photography #Nature

Common darter

#InsektenSamstag #Photography

A dragonfly perched on top of a weathered, textured wooden post or plant stem. It has detailed, translucent wings with intricate venation patterns, large compound eyes with reddish tones, and a segmented, elongated body.

The top of the post is frayed and fibrous, providing a textured surface where the dragonfly rests. The background is dark, moody, and softly out of focus, which makes the subject stand out sharply.
