A Bit of Rain
September 21, 2026 - Lake Stanley Draper, Oklahoma

As the sun drops towards sunset, a little storm front marches across the prairie.

Handheld with the OM-5 Mark II and the M.Zuiko Digital 12-45mm F4.0 PRO at: 1/400 sec, f/5.6, ISO 200, 12mm.

#photography #landscape #weather #omsystem #on1photoraw

The image is dominated by clouds that are illuminated from behind by the setting sun. A column of rain drops on slant towards the ground and the relatively small storm cell moves from right to left over the horizon. A mown hay field fills the lower third of the frame and a line of trees mark the horizon.

Happy autumnal equinox to all who celebrate. Some early color is showing on the passes here in southwest Colorado and I am slightly giddy. 🍂

The business end of a wax seal stamp. Apparently made of aluminum since magnets aren't attracted to it. About three-quarters of an inch in diameter. I'm guessing in was made back in the 1970s or 1980s and sold by Hallmark or some such store. The other side screws into a wooden handle, allowing that handle to be used with multiple stamps. This particular stamp features a fancy capital A (in reverse of course). I used to have a special light blue rectangular candle (with a simple ivy design on the wide sides) to use with it. I'd light the candle, tilt it, allow a few drops of melting wax to drip onto an envelope I wanted to seal, press the stamp into the hot wax, then let the wax cool and solidify with the A big and clear enough for the entire world to see (if the world happened to be in my room at the time). It all seemed rather magical back then, an act and a thing that made me one with all those historic kings and queens who'd seal their envelopes with their official seal - and woe unto those who dared break that seal without authorization! Unfortunately, I don't think many of my seals made their way safely through the US postal system intact (and lacking the power of a king or queen there was damn little I could do about it). Oh, well. I guess it really didn't matter since neither my first nor last name starts with an A. (I guess I forgot this when I made my purchase. *Sigh*)

#GutenMorgen Fediland. ☕🐑
Exil.

#Mexico #EdvanderElsken #fotografie #photography #EdVanDerElsken #EdvanderElsken

http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/collection/RP-F-2019-298-9-13

The image depicts a tranquil scene of three white birds with long necks standing in still water, possibly egrets. Their reflections are clearly visible on the calm surface beneath them. The background is divided diagonally from top left to bottom right; above this division lies what appears to be cracked earth or dry land, while below it stretches an expanse of reflective water. This dichotomy creates a contrast between arid and watery environments within the same frame. There's no visible color in the photograph as it seems monochromatic, likely due to its black-and-white presentation which is typical for certain artistic styles or historical photographs. The lighting suggests an overcast day or shaded area, contributing to the somber mood of the image.

Moving easily amongst the trees, this ring-tailed lemur was beautiful to watch. Another endangered species which I hope places such as Tierpark, where this particular lemur is housed, can help to protect and recover.
