Blaugrüne Mosaikjungfer bei der Rast

#InsektenSamstag #InsectSaturday #Libelle #Dragonfly #Fotografie #Photography #Nature

A young woman with long wet brown hair sits cross-legged on a wooden dock beside calm water, wearing a white cable-knit cardigan. She faces the camera with a gentle smile, with green trees and distant buildings visible across the lake in the soft daylight background. Fallen leaves are scattered on the dock planks around her.

Here's last night's sunset from Ōtautahi-Christchurch, NZ. The day ended with a thick easterly cloud bank across the city and Canterbury Plains but at the end of the day the sun did its best to peak through.

I just uploaded my favourite two photos to Flickr. Pop over there if you want to see the full-resolution versions.

My panorama photo of the sun setting under a thick low cloud bank over the Canterbury Plains. The sun is shining out from behind the cloud to light up the trees and farmland in the centre of the photo.

My photo of the sunset, tilted on its side a little showing an aeroplane in the sky in the top right and an electricity pylon lit up by the sunset in the lower right.

Tolteeks beeldhouwwerk in Tula, Mexico, Ed van der Elsken, 1960

#Tolteeks #Mexico #EdvanderElsken #Toltec #Mexican #fotografie #photography #EdVanDerElsken #EdvanderElsken

http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/collection/RP-F-2019-298-4-27

The image displays a monochromatic photograph of an imposing stone figure, reminiscent of the Toltec sculptures found at Tula in Mexico. The statue stands on two cylindrical legs and features detailed carvings that adorn its body with what appears to be symbols or glyphs indicative of ancient Mexican artistry. Its head is adorned with a headdress composed of rounded shapes, possibly representing feathers or another type of ornate decoration. This figure holds an air of historical significance and cultural richness, standing tall against a blurred background suggestive of an open landscape under cloudy skies.

The photograph has been framed within itself, indicating it might be part of a collection or exhibition display. The contrast between the dark tones of the statue and its environment emphasizes the texture and depth of the carving work on the figure. This image captures not only the physical presence of this ancient sculpture but also hints at the enduring legacy of Toltec civilization through these symbolic artifacts.

A close-up shot of a rough, jagged rock surface taken at night with a smartphone at f/1.4 aperture, 1/15 s shutter speed, and ISO 4000. The scene is enveloped in deep blue tones and harsh shadows, illuminated only by the ambient light of the moon and stars. In the center, on a lighter patch of the rock, a small, dark, camouflaged form is visible, resembling a small creature or spider. Sparse, dry twigs and grass are visible in the shadows on the left. The image features a fine, atmospheric grain due to the high ISO setting.

Throwback Saturday

Looking for a pic with a #lights theme, I remembered this snap from 2017. It was taken somewhere in SW Ireland, but I can't remember the exact location. It was very dark and I used a tripod (which I don't often do.)
