We are walking a dirt and gravel footpath with grassy shoulders overgrown with wildflowers and small leafy shoots. We walk past a small copse of trees on the right and then along the shore of a large lake. The right shoulder slopes several feet steeply down to the lake, the left is a similar slope down to a flat swath of grass along the edge of a forest. Up ahead the path arcs right and then left again. At that second turn a cluster of several spreading trees grows along the shore. The rippled waters of the lake mirror a soft pale blue gray sky with gray clouds tinted peach, pale pink and cream pastel tones by the setting sun.

Just had to go back to this spot on the Sunderland's River Wear in NE England to see if Mother Nature would put in a better performance than my previous visit.
A couple of evenings ago it looked promising, but the sun disappeared into a low bank of cloud just as it reached level with the bridge.
On the last day of summer, with the equinox just a few hours away, the skies were a lot clearer (maybe a little too clear!).
I would have loved it to have coincided with high tide as the higher reflective surface really makes a difference, but, it was not to be this time around.
Still quite pleased with the final result and so good at long last to finally see the Echo 24 apartment block with its roof repairs finally carried out and the scaffolding removed.
