Today, we're beginning to federate a selection of publishers based in Germany and the U.K. We've also introduced @FlipboardDE, a new profile for the Mastodon community in Germany. In the first test, we are partnering with 21 publishers to federate their profiles and Magazines. Yay! I just learned my photo was selected for the juried exhibition “In Honor of Trees,” by photographer Wendi Schneider. This is my 3rd acceptance this year, out of 4 competitions I’ve entered. It’s quite an honor to be so consistently recognized.

Photograph of a surreal landscape. A largely bald mountain sits above a very flat, yellow plain, which is laterally bisected by a crack, created from water erosion. The mountain is covered with green grass from base to peak. Seemingly swarming across its right ridge and front face, is a very dense and compact mass of round-canopy’d trees, with just a few tree-spots further away, like freckles. The mountain looks really strange; it is traversed by pale horizontal paths, and the tree growth seems tightly controlled, even manicured. The plain is yellow from vast swaths of flowering lentils, which the valley is famous for.

I enjoy creating black-and-white works with fineliners.
In high school, I saw myself as a lone owl—watchful, nocturnal, reflective.
This piece was made for a friend’s café.
Glad it still makes me smile.

Mornin'. Have some Sohan Qadri to start your day. #Art

An abstract mixed media work consisting of purple dye on handmade paper. The paper has been dipped into the dye several times, creating wave-like ridges in the color, as well as an ombré effect towards the top third of the work. Down the center are small, silvery dots in a line, reminiscent of a droplet of water caught on a time-lapse camera. The dots stop towards the center, but start up again towards the bottom.

Info: 92-year-old Mauricette, who resembles the Mexican artist's grandmother, was happy to pose for him. She is delighted with her mural, even though she criticizes the fact that he painted her wearing a smock apron. She had been so beautifully dressed the day before.
