After the backup scares and bit rot posts, I built LumiVault — a macOS app that hashes, error-corrects, and mirrors my photos across drives and B2. Free and open source. (370 words)

Allow yourself some time to rest

#Art #Photography

A massive geometric structure composed of multiple nested, open wireframe cubes made of dark, metal bars. The concentric frames create a strong sense of depth and perspective, drawing the eye toward the center.

Sitting on the floor inside the central, innermost frame of the installation are two people, a man and a woman, seated side by side and looking toward each other. Their small scale relative to the structure highlights the impressive size of the installation.

The room has stark white walls, ceiling, and floors, creating a high-contrast backdrop that emphasizes the dark, linear geometry of the sculpture.

The artwork was part of Geestgrond, an Antony Gormley exhibition at the KMSKA.

I love this crusty, rusty old shed. I love the peeling blue exterior and the oxidised orange roof and the rustic wooden door.

Macro photograph of a cluster of tiny pink common milkweed flowers, held tightly together by the photographer. Each flower has five rounded, hollow, and very smooth pink petals, a black dot between each petal, and a whitish center with a pink star pattern. Each flower resembles a little piglet, with a round nose, small black eyes, and pink ears.

Hangar Octave

Metis lighthouse. August 2026.

#FensterFreitag #WindowFriday #quebec #photography

Photograph of a simple, rectangular shed on the shore, made of vertical white painted wooden slats, with a black shingle roof and two very small square windows with red frames and closed by red panels. The shed is set on wooden blocks and its condition is beginning to deteriorate. A rosehip with pink flowers grows nearby, just under the windows. Other plants, driftwood and rocks and pebbles surround the building.

A recent Ringling College film school graduate got in touch with me asking to take photos to fortify her portfolio. Aside from the usual headshots, she took very cool photos of random things in my studio that I thought it would be fun to share, to give an inside view of my workspace.

If you live in SW #Florida and need a photographer, check out Vivian Hoang: https://lilmissvivian.com/

Two wooden shelves filled with various colored fired clay samples. The bottom shelf has little round "cookies" of clay in stacks and tiny pinch pots. The colors range from off white to orange to dark red and even dark purple. The top shelf is packed full of test tiles that have been brushed with different terra sigillata, showing various earth tones with cracked, shiny, satin and matte surfaces. The wall in the background is blue-green.

My two work tables are in the foreground showing pottery and supplies everywhere. A pedestal bowl stands on one of the tables and plastic buckets are crowded underneath. Behind the tables you can see my full-size electric kiln with a tall, unfired sculptural vase sitting on top.

I am in the background toward the center standing in the area where I prepare glazes and terra sigillata. My back is to the camera as I work at a metal table. Above me are shelves filled with glaze materials organized in buckets and mason jars full of various tones of terra sigillata. There is a work sink to my right. A colorful curtain to the far right hides our washer and dryer.

A closer shot of my terra sigillata shelf filled with dozens of mason jars labeled with masking tape and sharpie. The colors of solution in the jars range from dark pink to orange to brown to mustard yellow and olive green. They sit on a heavy duty wooden shelf with a blue-green wall in the background.

A blue 5 gallon bucket filled with reclaimed clay. These are clay scraps from trimming and carving that are soaking in water and will be dried on a plaster slab until it becomes a plastic consistency that I can rework into new pieces of pottery. The color of the clay is orange-brown. There are other plastsic buckets and plastic bags to the left and a concrete floor in the background.

Happy Monday, everyone.

I just saw a raven fly past our window with a slice of pizza dangling from its beak.

Party on.
