Baxter the Hill, has allergies. Primarily to grasses. If there is enough rain and the grasses grow, Baxter's skin itches, Baxter scratches and his skin sluffs off. This cycle has been going on so long, Baxter's skin shows permanent scars from prolonged scratching. Baxter is still upset with his parents for moving to the valley.

Low-angle, close-up photograph of two vibrant, heart-shaped leaves glowing bright red in late afternoon sunlight. The leaves hang side-by-side from thin, tangled branches and vines, illuminated from behind so their delicate internal veins are visible. In the soft-focus background, green, yellow, and bronze foliage filters soft patches of sky and dappled sunlight, creating a warm, cosy autumnal atmosphere.

A pearl farm in Vietnam, where simple wooden homes seem to float quietly above the water. I loved the reflections and stillness here—the scene almost asked to be photographed in black and white.

Somebody has chewed a hole through the side of a Sarracenia leucophylla pitcher. Wasps are a favorite prey of Sarracenia species, and sometimes when a wasp falls into the pitcher it's able to chew its way out. This doesn't really harm the plant, as it's still able to trap and digest additional prey. But sometimes the critters are able to make an escape.

Looking across a lake past wooded peninsulas on the right and left to a low ridge along the far shore. There are very tall trees on the lefthand peninsula. All land features are silhouetted against a sky filled with streaky hazy clouds gradually arcing upward to our right. This sky is mirrored on the lake below.

Photograph of a seaside landscape, showing a rocky island in the distance, some rocks sticking out from the water where seabirds are resting, as well as the beach at the bottom of the image. The sky is very pale blue and it reflects on the barely wrinkled sea. The sun hidden behind the diaphanous clouds emits a very white light. The light illuminates the island and the rocks from behind, making visible only their black silhouettes.

Florida at sunrise. I love walking the beach this early, when it’s quiet and there’s just a soft breeze coming off the ocean. A thunderstorm was building in the distance that morning, catching the rising sun and filling the clouds with gold. Such a spectacular way to start the day.

Winter in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains above Santa Fe, New Mexico. Snow blankets the trail, frost coats every branch, and the evergreens are dressed in white.

I'm hoping the winter ahead brings us more beautiful scenes like this. With El Niño developing, there's hope for some much-needed moisture and plenty of mountain snow!

This is where I grew up, early morning at Twin Lakes in Mammoth Lakes, California. It was quiet the air was cool, and a few people were already out fishing. A beautiful beautiful place to spend a morning. One of my favorite views from the Eastern Sierra.

San Diego after dark, with the downtown skyline lighting up the bay. The historic Star of India glows along the Embarcadero, while the distinctive pointed roof of One America Plaza rises above the surrounding buildings.

I've always loved photographing city skylines at night, especially with all those colorful reflections dancing across the water.
