Fabulous #autumn colours on this tree, as the last hour of sunlight made the leaves glow.

Inspired by the absolutely incredible photos of #fungi 🍄 posted by the ridiculously talented @arcturus recently, I took a shot when I ran into a shocking profusion of #mushrooms on my hike a couple of days ago. Alas, my very first #FungiFriday will also have to be a #shittember post. Even though I took dozens of photos, I got nothing I was hoping for. In fact (and I'll blame this on my exhaustion, the waning light, and my lack of eyeglasses), I'll be perfectly honest: I thought I was focusing on the mushroom in the foreground. 🤣 Anyway, here it is...

I found this alien stuck between the window and the mosquito net.
I took some pictures before gently releasing it on the nearby tree.

Straatgezicht tijdens een marktdag in een dorp ten zuiden van Oaxaca, Mexico, Ed van der Elsken, 1960

The image depicts a bustling street scene during what appears to be market day in a village. People are dressed in light, summer clothing such as white dresses and shirts with wide-brimmed hats for sun protection. The attire suggests it could be from the mid-20th century or even earlier. There is a diverse array of individuals engaged in various activities; some walk along carrying goods on their heads or hands while others sit or stand chatting.

The street itself has an unpaved, uneven surface with patches that look like cracked mud or dirt, which indicates rural conditions rather than urban development. Vehicles are present but limited to the type found in mid-20th-century settings: a large truck and what appears to be a horse-drawn cart on the left side of the image.

On either side of the street stand buildings with traditional architecture; one has an arched entrance typical of colonial-era structures, while another is more plain but still suggests historical significance. The background features clear skies which suggest it's daytime, likely midday given the brightness and clarity in the photograph.

Overall, this snapshot captures a moment from daily life in what could be early to mid-20th-century rural Mexico or Latin America, with people engaging in community activities typical of market days in small villages.

Mix of first results from the recent road trip to Bosnia. Amazing country and landscape to fall in love with. But also a crazy number of bushfires throughout the whole country 🖤

Before I moved to San Diego, I roamed my home state of #Georgia for five years with my camera and took pictures. Here is image number 448 from the series.
