a retail store aisle stocked with various Christmas decorations. On the left, a large green wreath is adorned with red and white ribbons. The shelves display an assortment of holiday items, including plush Santa figures, red and white striped cone-shaped trees, festive candles, small decorative houses, and numerous reindeer figurines. The items are neatly arranged on gray metal shelving, with additional storage boxes visible on the top shelf.

Farlington Marshes, on the outskirts of Portsmouth, a popular spot for birdwatching or just having a nice long walk or cycle with mostly nothing but nature around. The marshes were reclaimed from the surrounding Langstone Harbour in 1771 and during World War II this land was used as a decoy site for German bombers.

#Portsmouth #Photography #Farlington #Landscape #History #Marsh

It's a lightly overcast day, feeling quite cool, partly because we're quite exposed here. We're on a wide expanse of marshes. Right in front of us there's a small pond, curving around a low bank of grass and flanked by a bushy ridge that stretches to the left away from us behind the water. Part of a wooden fence can be seen to the left of the pond. The marshes stretch on into the distance, firstly over green grassy areas, then, beyond a long strip of a lake, pale yellow-coloured reeds to more distant greenery. Low hills barely rise above the horizon.

Here’s a photograph from Saturday morning following the prescribed burns in the Elk Prairie area of Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. The photo shows three crew members in yellow, black, and red (lower left) at the edge of a tan, gold, and green grassland area, next to the trunk of a spectacular redwood tree (rising from the lower right and disappearing from view in the upper right). The remainder of the background is primarily green needles and leaves from a variety of different trees and shrubs. Prescribed burns are conducted at Elk Prairie as one element of park management.

Raindrops on spiderweb
#photography, #potd2026, #photoaday, #pad2026-264, #upclose, #raindrops, #macro, #macromonday, #waterdrops, #fallcolors, #spiderweb, #tinyworlds

A close-up photograph of numerous water droplets suspended on the fine threads of a spiderweb. The background is softly blurred, featuring warm, autumnal colors like orange, yellow, and red, which are reflected in the droplets themselves.
The lighting highlights the spherical shape and clarity of the water drops, creating a jewel-like effect as they catch the light. The intricate pattern of the web is visible where the threads connect the droplets.
