How do you describe textures? Objects, sure. Colours, no problem. But what about those accumulations of fine details that add real feeling to a location?

A close-up shot of a rough, jagged rock surface taken at night with a smartphone at f/1.4 aperture, 1/15 s shutter speed, and ISO 4000. The scene is enveloped in deep blue tones and harsh shadows, illuminated only by the ambient light of the moon and stars. In the center, on a lighter patch of the rock, a small, dark, camouflaged form is visible, resembling a small creature or spider. Sparse, dry twigs and grass are visible in the shadows on the left. The image features a fine, atmospheric grain due to the high ISO setting.

The Old Staircase

📷️ Ricoh GRIIIX

#myfotokempi

#photography #photo #fotografie #color #ricoh #texture #old

This color photograph captures a fragment of an old wooden structure immersed in overgrowth. The wall is made of dark, almost black boards weathered by time, with reddish streaks and traces of rust, giving the surface an almost painterly texture. On the right, a dilapidated wooden staircase leads into a dark opening; its steps are faded and askew. Faded numbers — "3" and "2" — can be discerned on the wall and the staircase. The foreground is occupied by dense greenery and grass, which almost hide the lower part of the building, symbolizing how nature gradually reclaims its own. The image conveys the atmosphere of abandonment, silence, and the harsh beauty of old things.

"Wingspan" 🪽for #texturetuesday

Dragonflies have such cool, intricate looking wings!
They are part of the suborder "Anisoptera" .
"Aniso" — meaning unequal and "Ptera" — meaning wing. Because their back wings (or hind wings) are bigger than the front ones.

This is a close-up photo of a Common Darter Dragonfly on a blade of grass. The orange and red and facing away from us. Their entire wingspan is visible and mostly in focus (sorry about that!). The wings are extremely detailed with lots of black veins connecting like the underside of a leaf.
The background is out of focus and a mixture of yellows, greens and some blue.
