One of my favourite photos of waterfalls from Iceland.

A narrow, dark cavern with a small waterfall flowing into a pool. Green moss covers the rocky walls of the opening through which it is flowing. Above the light illuminates large moss covered rocks I stripes, visually leading to the waterfall. The rest is dark.

Þórufoss is an 18 m high waterfall found east of Lake Þingvallavatn in #Iceland. The waterfall was used as a shooting location for HBO's Game of Thrones as the home of the Children of the Forest. #waterfallwednesday #blackandwhite #SchwarzWeissSamstag

Dome

This pretty waterfall is a steep tiered cascade of two drops. Its cliff’s dome shape makes the lower level more prominent as a curtain of narrow water streams cascades down the rock formation into a small, flat pool of water.

The entire waterfall is tucked into a narrow bowl of dark rock and moss while the upper part of the waterfall sits further back in the rock fold.

Stjornafoss in southern Iceland. The person providing scale is my partner.

Roadside Gulch (2026)

A quick scouting trip up the mountain yesterday to see what state the color change was in yielded this waterfall snapshot from a gulch along the highway outside of Silverton, Colorado.
