Going into Antelope Valley. It felt strange to see the San Gabriel Mountains from the north in a distance, because I was accustomed to the view from the south. #losangelescounty #sangabriels #sangabrielmountains #landscape #photography #metrolink #darktable

A small river, power line pylons, and a palm tree by smooth hills covered in dry grass

A railroad track curves into the scene, leading to a town and mighty mountains covered in dry grass in the distance

Flying Scotsman 60103

First you see the steam…
Billowing over the woodland,
Greyer even than the drizzling sky.

The sound comes next –
A speeding metronome; tick chuff tick chuff,
And the roar of her every part…

Pushing the air aside.

A processed still from the video linked below

You can see a rather wobbly handheld video – how to tell people you don’t really ‘do’ video – by clicking this link

Santa Clara River north of the San Gabriel Mountain, onboard Metrolink Antelope Valley line. It was HOT outside, like 40 degrees C. The river is where the green vegetation grows, as is common in SoCal rivers. In the early days of my new life in NYC, I missed LA, so I played Train Sim World which has this line. #losangelescounty #sangabriels #sangabrielmountains #river #forest #landscape #photography #darktable

Many thin bare trees rise above thick green bushes, with mountains in the background.

Green reeds and bushes grow in a valley between mountains covered in arid yellow grass

A black and white photograph of a group of people walking on a sidewalk. The people are walking away from the camera, the nearest is wearing a backpack. The scene is illuminated by strong sunlight, casting long shadows and flat reflected light.

An abstract, highly out-of-focus photograph titled "Roller Toaster". It shows a close-up of the curved metal wires of a toaster's bun warmer. The intense motion blur makes the metallic lines streak across a light beige background, creating a dynamic, almost fluid appearance.

Me and my food couriers. There’s definitely a series there. Maybe an exhibit someday.

At the light, two food couriers on mopeds wait for the light to change, with pedestrians in the background.

A large "Yoga Narasimha" installation at Widyaa-Waarinidhi Theertha Guest House, Udupi #India. It seems this #sculpture has been at this spot forever, but I noticed it only last night. (The wavy light strips behind create a moving effect.) 🧘‍♂️

The sculpture is modeled after the main deity of Kaniyooru Matha (which owns the guest house). 👇

A ~7 feet (2m+) high bronze sculpture of Hindu deity "Yoga Narasimha" which is a 4-armed Lord Narasimha (human body, lion face) seated in a yoga posture. The front arms stretched and held over knees in meditation. Each of the rear arms hold up an icon (chakra or disc; shankha or conch) of Wishnu. Some decorative wavy strips of LED light on the wall behind. A black idol of Lord Rama and a smaller black idol of Lord Krishna in front.

Bird on a Branch

This is a close‑up of a female brown‑headed cowbird (Molothrus ater).

Step into a world where even the smallest moments—like the glint in a bird's eye—tell their own story.

https://swede1952-photographs.pixels.com

#photo #photography #photographer #photographylovers #wildlife #nature #bird #birds #birding #birdwatching #birdphotography #blackbirds #BrownHeadedCowbird

"The photograph captures a female brown-headed cowbird (Molothrus ater) perched on a branch. Here’s a more elaborate description:

The bird’s most striking feature is its thick grayish beak and amber brown eyes, which blend well with the lighter, greyish-brown plumage covering its body. Its head turns to the left, giving it an alert and curious appearance. The cowbird seems to be in a natural environment, surrounded by a blurred green background that suggests foliage.

For birdwatchers and enthusiasts, this image provides valuable information for species identification. The brown-headed cowbird is known for its parasitic nesting behavior, laying eggs in the nests of other bird species. Keep an eye out for these birds during your birdwatching adventures!" - Microsoft Copilot
