“Old camera maintenance”

The Nettar series from Zeiss Ikon was a successful range of self-mounting folding cameras for 120 mm film. This Nettar S 515/2 version released in the early 1930s produces 6×9 cm images and features a self-timer (hence the “S”). It also features a brilliant viewfinder on the lens body and a pop-up viewfinder on the…

Hey #believeinfilm friends,

I compiled a huge list of (27) tips and practical ideas on how to save money on film photography:

https://www.analog.cafe/r/how-to-save-money-on-film-11rh

It goes well beyond generic advice and includes some advice mentioned nowhere else. The article is, of course, free.

Did I leave anything out? What do you do to keep your spending in check?

Close-up of an intricate Moorish wooden ceiling panel (Artesonado) from the Alhambra, crafted in the Mudéjar or Nasrid style. The image displays a highly complex geometric wood inlay technique where raised, concentric wooden bands interlace to form an endless network of multi-pointed stars, rhombuses, and polygons. An eight-pointed star configuration grounds the center. The recessed spaces between the wooden beams are adorned with shimmering leaf gold gilding and hand-painted floral arabesque motifs (Ataurique). Along the edges of the golden fields, fine lines of tiny white dotted patterns resemble mother-of-pearl or bone inlays, adding dramatic depth and texture to the rich brown woodwork.

A black and white photo of an approaching storm cloud over a small hillside neighborhood. The cloud front is approaching from the right, dark, dramatic, and curving up to the upper left of frame. We can see some houses and trees on a darkened, distant hillside at the bottom left of the frame. Wedged between the hill and the cloud is a triangle of brighter skies, thinner clouds. If we look closely near the top left edge of the storm cloud, we can see a passenger jet flying into the storm, oblivious to the drama.
