Examination Schools, High Street, Oxford, UK

It didn’t rain constantly, but on this first day we dealt with drizzle and sometimes heavy showers.

An exterior shot of a grand, historic stone building under an overcast, dreary sky. The facade features ornate architectural details, including tall leaded-glass windows, an arched main entrance flanked by stone columns, and a central spired cupola topped with a weather vane. A purple flag flies above the entrance, while a pedestrian wearing a blue jacket walks along the wet sidewalk out front.

A single pale leaf appears against an almost completely black earthy background. Its softly lit surface reveals the leaf’s veins and irregular edges while the surrounding darkness isolates the form entirely.

Driving slowly to the bridge
With nothing left that we can give
We smile at this ugly world
It never really suited you
Old songs leave long shadows
Makes you shut down all your emotions

The image depicts a dramatic and poignant scene captured in black and white. It features the remains of an animal, presumably a goat or sheep with its body sprawled out on the ground, suggesting it may have died recently. Perched atop this lifeless form are two birds: one appears to be a vulture, identifiable by its bald head and large hooked beak, while the other could possibly be another species of bird that resembles an eagle due to its size and posture.

The background is blurred but seems to consist of natural elements like grass or foliage, which adds to the somber mood of the photograph. The contrast between the darkened form on the ground and the lighter tones around it create a striking visual impact. This could be interpreted as representing themes such as mortality, nature's circle of life, or perhaps even famine.

The image carries an emotional weight through its stark simplicity and composition, focusing attention solely on these two creatures atop the animal carcass to provoke thought about their relationship with each other and possibly broader ecological implications within a natural setting.

📍 Peñíscola. Castellón.

Descripción en #alttext

#photography #photo #fotografia #blackandwhite #bnwphotography #bnw #monochrome #blancoynegro #travel #nature #streetphotography #architecture #cityscape
