I came away from Mount Rainier National Park with a list of places I would love to return to. This is #2.

An alpine meadow dotted with white boulders backs up to a line of trees. Then a rocky ridge with patches of snow culminating in a sharp triangular peak to the left. Rising behind it all the dome of mighty Tahoma.

We’ve returned to the sunny part of our repeating cycle, having just left the cloudy portion, which will return.

#MountainMonday

Taken on my wonderful through hike of the #TonquinValley in fall of 2025, this scene was taken as we crested the top of the valley pass and started are slow descent back into the meadows below.

It was one of our favourite moments of the hike. The elevation was largely finished, the sky brighten and the rain stopped, and of course, we had this view to enjoy the entire way down.

Große, dramatische Wolken ziehen über die Landschaft, dazwischen leuchtet ein kräftiges Blau. Die tief stehende Sonne taucht die Wolken und einige Berghänge in goldene und orangefarbene Farbtöne. Dadurch entsteht ein starker Kontrast zwischen den kühlen Blau- und den warmen Goldtönen.

A natural #window to the #Mountains

The upper part of the ascent to #Wendelstein is a steep path carved into the rock, with a short, dark tunnel. This was the beautiful view through one of the ventilation holes.
