Dark close-up of a textured, grid-like glass door lit diagonally from the left by warm, yellowish light. Three dark blue rectangular panels stand out clearly against the lit surface in the middle of the frame. On the left, a narrow vertical frame and a dark, square door handle. The door stands slightly ajar, with light shining through a gap along its side.

Nut Run at Altitude

Here is a red-bellied woodpecker (scientific name) who streaked by pretty fast. She has a peanut or almond that she found in my bird feeder. Those birds dig around until they find the best stuff.

Step into a world where even the smallest moments—like the glint in a bird's eye—tell their own story.

"A female red‑bellied woodpecker flashes across the frame in mid‑flight, her wings stretched wide in a powerful, sweeping motion. You see her from behind and slightly below, as if you’re standing on the ground watching her surge past overhead. Her wings form a graceful arc, each feather sharply defined — the upper surfaces patterned in bold black and white bars that look almost like hand‑painted strokes.

Her body is pale and warm‑toned, and the soft red blush on the back of her head marks her as a female. Tucked tightly in her beak is a small prize — a peanut or almond — gripped firmly as she carries it away. The nut is tiny compared to her, but she holds it with purpose, like a determined courier on a mission.

Her tail feathers flare slightly behind her, adding to the sense of speed and lift. The background is a smooth, muted sky, giving the impression of open air and effortless motion. The whole scene feels quick, bright, and alive — a moment of wild energy frozen in mid‑flight, a woodpecker caught in the act of doing exactly what woodpeckers do: working, flying, and stealing snacks with style." - Microsoft Copilot

Three teenagers in matching yellow t-shirts and black trousers cross a level railway crossing in Yuasa. A red and yellow stop sign reads とまれ (tomare — stop) in Japanese. Warning signs, a crossing signal, and overhead power lines frame the scene.

Ops! @foto #fotografia #photography
